On The Dance Floor

2 Weeks

These past few weeks have possibly been the best weeks of my life. 

Spotlight dance camp has been amazing. 

The students here are so amazing and friendly. 

The talent was just....Wow.

We saw Beetlejuice on Broadway, which I loved so much because my solo from a few weeks ago was a song from the musical. 

I was part of the junior female ensemble along with the intermediate junior ensemble, which I was in with Jordan. 

There were five girls in the junior female ensemble with me, we all had solos, and three group dances.

Pointe, Hip hop, and Lyrical. 

The intermediate junior ensemble had to audition for solos and duets. 

Jordan and I auditioned and got a duet entitled "Love me, Love me not" 

Then we had three more group dances. 

Hip hop, musical theatre, and contemporary.

We have been training and rehearsing for the two weeks, but today was dress rehearsal. 

I sat down with my lunch table and smiled. 

"Hey Ava!" Paisley,  a girl in my female ensemble smiles. 

"Hi!" I smile. 

"I can't believe we leave in two days" Kyle frowns. 

"I know, I'm not ready to go back to studio" Jordan says. 

"I'm not ready for nutcracker auditions" I state. 

For the two weeks our school teachers have been emailing our work for us to do.

So we didn't miss much besides the tests we had to make-up. 

"My vote for Clara is Ava" Lindsey, my roommate smiles. 

"I hope!" I smile. 

"Do seniors try out?" Foster asks. 

"No, they have their own showcase at the end of the year" I explain. 

They nod. 

"I'm so nervous for tommarow" Paisley says.

"Our pointe routine sucks!" Lindsey explains. 

"It needs to pull together before tommarow" I nod. 

"There is no such thing as a dance that sucks" Our Pointe teacher, Miss Julie, States. 

"That's a lie"  I mumble.

"It is not" Miss Julie laughs. 

"What are you doing out here?" Kyle asks. 

"I'm waiting on my nephew and niece, My niece wants to dance so badly, but she hasn't been able to, She just finished Chemotherapy" Miss Julie explains. 

"Aw!" Lindsey smiles. 

"She's very sweet!" Miss Julie explains "And my Nephew was forced to attend as well after getting suspended at school"

"Uh oh, I hear bad boy vibes" Paisley smirks, fixing her hair. 

"You're in a leotard and sweatpants, Don't get your hopes up" Miss Julie laughs 

I take a bite of my salad and laugh. 

"Jordan, ava, I heard your duet has been looking amazing! I'm excited to see it" Miss Julie says.
