Here's the thing.
Jordan and I have barely had any duets together.
Maybe two before the one we are doing this next competition.
Mason and I were the ones to always have a duet.
We made a great duo.
However, Whenever Jordan and I do a hip hop duet...It always places in the top three.
We have always been good friends.
He's the guy friend everyone needs.
Late night phone calls, crazy photos, and random dance sessions.
However, He hasn't been himself recently.
And I know it's because of his brothers deployment.
Jordan and his brother, Tristan, were always close.
Tristan was his number one fan considering his dad hated it and his mom is always too busy to pay attention.
He would come to every dance competition and recital.
Ryder and Tristan were in high school together and were great friends, that's how Jordan and I meet.
But today....it was different.
"Hey Jordan!" I smile.
He gives me a soft smile and sets his stuff down.
I furrow my eyebrows and pull on my jazz shoes "You okay?"
He nods, pulling on his jazz shoes.
Again...Not like him "I'll be in studio C if you need me"
Mrs. Hanna must've gave him permission too since we were early.
"Okay" I whisper.
I drop down into my center split and pull out my phone as Jordan makes his way out of the room.
I finish up stretching, and put my phone away as Paige walks in "Want to run your solo?"
"Sure!" I smile.
"Meet me in studio C" She says, going to grab her notes.
I walk into studio C to see Jordan laying in the center staring at the ceiling.
"Hey, We are going to run my solo, maybe we can do our duet after" I say.
He nods, getting up and walking out, past Paige.
"Is he okay?" Paige asks.
I shrug "He claims he is"
Paige nods and I take my starting position of my solo.
She starts the music and I start the dance.
I wobbled on my turns a bit but otherwise I did fine.
"That was perfect!" Paige smiles.
"Could be better" I shrug.
"Want to call Jordan in here to run your duet?" Paige asks.
I nod and walk out, getting Jordan to join us.
We walk back in "From the top!" Paige states.
We take our starting positions and start the dance.
About half way through the dance there is a part where Jordan lifts me up and picks me up bridal style.
However today he got me up and dropped me.
That's never happened with us.
Paige pauses the music.
"Are you okay Ava?" Paige asks.
"Y-yeah" I sigh, rubbing my hip.
Jordan stuffs his hands in his pockets and walks out.
"Take five" Paige says.
I look up at the viewing room and flash a thumbs up at Ryder.
He nods and continues to do work.
I get up, exiting the studio and going into the dressing room.
"J...what's up?" I ask, sitting next to Jordan, handing him a Gatorade.
"Thanks" he mumbles taking a sip "I'm sorry for dropping you"
"It's fine" I shake my head "It's not like you did it on purpose"
He chuckles "You're right"
"But answer my question!" I state.
Jordan sighs, tears forming in his eyes "Tristan is in blackout"
My mouth falls open "No"
"Yeah...So someone is either hurt"
"Or..."
"Yeah"
I put my arm around Jordan "I'm sorry"
He shrugs "It's whatever"
"You're upset" I point out.
"Yeah, and?"
I glare at him "Put that away, you don't have to be all tough with me"
"Except that one time when you cried after your solo thinking it wasn't good enough" He chuckles.
"Because it wasn't" I state.
"Lies!"
He rolls his eyes "You're the best"
"I know" I laugh.
We set our Gatorade down and get up high fiving.
"Now lets go dominate that duet" He states.
"Okay...But I'm always here" I smile.
"Thanks...I'll keep you updated on the situation, I know he was like a brother to you too" Jordan says.
I nod as we walk into the studio.
