red tallies appear for every person you have loved, black is for every person you have loved that has died, and a white tally is for when you have met your soulmate.

ray palmer stopped looking at his tally marks when anna died, he couldn't look at the little black line meaning his love was dead. it brought him down, but he still tried to find his soulmate. felicity was just a flop but he still had a red tally showing he loved her. kendra was someone special though, he thought she was the one but carter came back from the dead and they both left the legends. so now ray has 1 black tally and 2 red tallies. he gave up after kendra, he was still a legend though.

he has been a legend for 3 years now and they have done so many things but the one thing that ray will remember for the rest of his life is when nate saved him from getting eaten by a dinosaur. thinking about that now made ray chuckle a little, anyways that memory was his favorite because that's when he met nate.

nate was the one person that loved to talk and hang with him, they were both that kind of geeky person where they loved to read and talk about history. knowing nate was a historian made that even better for ray. but something weird happened on the day they met.

flashback;

it was the day that nate and mick saved ray from being eaten alive by a dinosaur, ray had overgrown hair and was going to the bathroom to shave and take a shower. he grabbed a towel from his dresser and went inside the bathroom and locked the door. he took off his shirt and started to shave away his beard that he had grown over the months. once he finished he put his razor back in the sink drawer and something caught his eye, his tally marks that he hated to look at. there was 1 black one, 2 red ones and a newly put white one on his bicep. ray was so confused because having a white tally meant you have met your soulmate, but ray was almost 100% sure he had not met his soulmate today. he's seen the usual today, mick, sara, martin, jax. all of the normal people- wait he met nate. no, he couldn't be could it?

end of flashback

ray was still thinking about the white tally on his bicep till this day, he hasn't told anyone of course because he's 100% sure his soulmate is nate and he doesn't want to fuck up their friendship. ray really wanted to tell nate but he didn't know how he would react, scared he would lose his best friend.

but today ray was gonna face his fears and tell nate, ray walked out of the galley and headed to nate's quarters because he was sure that's where he was. once ray reached the door he raised his hand up to knock but the door already opened, he looked up and saw nate standing there looking puzzled.

"hi nate." ray started as nate's gaze met his eyes.

"uh hey ray, um what's up?" nate asked and ray asked if he could come in, nate obviously let him in and they sat down on the bed together side by side.

"i need to tell you something that i have known since the day we met." ray stated and nate nodded as he propped himself up on the bed using his arms.

"i-uhm, i-i think you're my soulmate..." ray said in a whisper voice, nate heard him though. trains of thought went through nate's mind when he heard his best friend say those words. nate didn't say anything though, which made ray think he made a horrible mistake, but he didn't. nate leaned over towards ray and placed a quick kiss on his cheek before retreating and blushing furiously.

"you're cute when you blush." ray said and smirked a little while nate was in the process of trying to hide his blush.

they stayed like that and talked for a good 30 minutes before walking out of nate's room holding hands. they walked out to the bridge hand in hand and stood there waiting to here their mission from sara and gideon.

"you owe me $20!" sara yelled and the new couple looked over at where sara and ava were standing facing each other.

"ugh fine!" ava yells back and a $20 bill is slapped into sara's waiting hand. sara smirked in victory while ray and nate were standing there confused.

"chant with me guys!! we all knew this day would come!" zari yells and the whole team started chanting 'steelatom' which ray and nate had no idea what it was.

"uh could we ask what you guys are doing by chance?" nate spoke up. zari stepped down and walked over to ray and nate.

"you guys! are together! we have been waiting for this day for way too long!" she exclaimed happily.
ray and nate exchanged confused glances and separated their interlocked hands as they walked up to gideon.

"are you guys really that stupid!" charlie asks.

"steelatom is your ship name! since you ray are the atom and nate is steel." charlie explained to them and they eventually got it.

eventually time passed and the crew came back from their exciting mission to comic con! ray was so happy that he got to go but bummed out when he he found out that nate didn't have to go. so as a surprise ray brought back some merchandise he got from the comic con. ray stepped onto the ship and made his way to nate's bedroom. he knocked and was answered by a 'who is it?'.

"it's the one and only." ray replied cockily. he didn't know why he said that he's never cocky. nate replied with a 'come in' and ray walked in to find nate reading a book on his bed. nate took off his reading glasses and set them and the book aside and put his attention to ray.

"i got you some stuff since you didn't go on the mission." ray said and took out the back full of stuff he got.

"oh ray you didn't have to do that..." nate said and smiled as ray smiled back and pulled out the first item, which was a yoda plushie. the comic con was star wars themed and they both loved star wars. ray gave it to nate and nate squeezed it happily.

"oh my god ray i love it!" nate exclaimed and kissed ray's cheek. ray got nate lots of other star wars related items. later on they were cuddled up in nate's bed watching the first star wars movie of course. ray was all cuddled up in nate's embrace, he had a huge smile on his face and was happy on how things turned out.

"i still can't believe you're my soulmate..." ray whispered quietly, nate looked down at ray in his arms and smiled.

"me neither, can't believe i have such a great partner to be with for the rest of my life." nate replies back and ray looked up at him and leaned in. nate knew what is meant, he was going to kiss him. suddenly ray's lips met nate's and they had their very first official kiss and it was the best.

"god damn your a hell of a kisser ray!" nate exclaimed and ray blushed deeply and hid back under the covers.

"hmm i wonder if you're ticklish..." nate said and a sudden gasp was heard from under the blankets and nate knew that meant a yes. he started tickling the ball of blankets which ray was under and ray came out from under and was having a laughing fit.

eventually they fell asleep from exhaustion and they had dreams of their future life together... happy.
