Chapter 20

"Buttercup! Wait!" Ace said while running the halls.
Buttercup turned around.
"What?"
"Hey, you wanna hang after school? It's been a while since we hung out."
Buttercup though for a moment.
"We can hang at my concert tonight?"
Ace raised an eyebrow.
"Don't you and Butch hang after?"
"Am I not allowed to have friends?" Buttercup asked confusingly.
"No no! Of course you are! Alright, I'll see you after I guess!"
Buttercup smiled softly. She still thought Ace was pretty hot, but she wasn't attracted to him. She was just glad they were starting to become friends again.
Buttercup then walked to her locker while she pulled out her phone and texted.
"Hey Bunny, I'm coming home late tonight. Don't worry I'll be home in time for the concert!"

"What are you doing?? Wait, never mind. Don't answer that. But ok, just be on time and I won't kill you!"
Bunny replied.

Buttercup laughed softly at her sisters empty threat.
She was about to go to the music room when she bumped into the person she was avoiding.
"Oh, he Butch."

"Hey. Hey why'd you sit with Ace this morning?"
He asked while running his hand through his messed up hair.
Buttercup smiled sadly. She didn't want Butch know she knew about the kiss he shared with Amy just yet.
"Oh you know. Just wanted to say hi to an old friend."
"Oh! Ok, want me to walk you to class?" He asked offering his hand.
Buttercup shook her hand slightly.
"No that's ok, your class is all the way on the other side of the building anyway. I'll be fine."
Butch frowned slightly.
"I guess your right. Ok well see you tonight."
He said and briefly kissed her cheek and walked off.
Buttercup sighed heavily. True she was absolutely heart broken over what he did. But...she wasn't angry. At least not yet anyway.

—-at the concert.

Buttercup was chugging down water as she and her sister had just finished their concert.
She felt a tap on her shoulder.
She looked over to see none other than Ace.
She smiled.
"Hey! Glad you could make it!" She said.
"Of course! It was awesome, your great." He said while he tucked a stray hair behind her ear.
Buttercup blushed slightly but quickly hid it by looking away.
"Um, anyway. Do you what a drink?" She asked him
"A drink? Hell yeah."

—-after about an hour of talking and drinking (not enough to get then drunk.)

"He cheated on you with his ex? Damn. And your still with him?"
"Yeah. I love him. I can understand from his point of view, I was just a load of tears and self pity. But...it still hurts you know?"
Ace put a hand on her shoulder.
"Damn right I know. He left while you were struggling, for his ex. He should be better. You need better."
He was now stroking her hair.
Buttercup felt a chill go up her spine.
"Ace I-"
She was cut off....by lips.

It took her time to register what was happening till she pushed him off.
"Ace! What the hell?"
"Buttercup he cheated on you! Cheat on him back!"
Buttercup sighed. She knew where he was coming from but cheating was just not buttercups thing.
"Ace, I get it. I do. But know matter what he does, or says, I can never go as low as to cheat. If I do, that makes me no better than him. Than Amy."
Ace sighed.
"Your right. I know. I'm sorry. I-I'll show myself out."
He patted her shoulder and left.
Buttercup stayed sitting down for a while then sighed. She grabbed her phone and texted Butch.

"We need to talk. NOW"
