"Um..." Kazuma said.
"Those two slimy ladies earlier were allies of yours, right? What in the world did that to them?" Darkness asked.
I'm not sure why'd she want to know? To seek revenge? No, that's not it. We've killed the toads already. Otherwise, I have no idea.
Kazuma answered, "Oh, uh... They were swallowed by giant toads, and the mucus-"
"What?! It's worse than I imagined..." Darkness said as she seemed to be daydreaming.
What's with her?!
"No, wait! As a knight, I cannot overlook such horrors befalling two girls of such a tender age!" she shouted.
Her face was red, she was heavily breathing, and her eyes were scaring me. She's setting off all of my red flags. This tells me something is really wrong with her.
Kazuma replied, "No, I'd advise against it. It's hard to say how useful one of our members is, another can only use her magic once per day, another actually is useful with a special ability of his, but otherwise, can only use basic spells, and I'm the lowest job class. Our party's total trash, so I'd recommend you look elsewhere-" Darkness was now gripping tighter on his arm. "Ow, ow, ow!"
"That's even better!" she replied, "The truth is, this was a bit difficult for me to say, but while I have confidence in my strength and stamina, I am clumsy... So um... None of my attacks hit their mark."
Well, this won't be good for us.
She continued, leaning towards us, "As such, I'll charge to the front line, so please use me as a shield!"
Her face is too close! Stay calm, man. Don't be seduced by her womanly charms!
"No..." I replied, "I'd never let a woman get hit, let alone use one as a shield."
"It would be my pleasure!" Darkness replied.
Now, this is getting weird, for sure.
"Well, half of our party gets eaten by monsters in every battle," I added.
"That would be even more my pleasure!" She shouted.
I see. It's not just her abilities. She's hopeless to the core... and a masochist. This can go one way or another.

The next day, as Kazuma and I entered the guild, we witnessed Aqua performing party tricks for the people in the guild. She also had a pot on her head, with a plant growing out of it.
"Thank you, thank you!" We heard her say.
"Oh, look, you two! What do you think of my newly acquired skill? Isn't it befitting of a water goddess such as myself?" Aqua called to us.
We didn't really do anything but stare in disappointment. She could've spent that time learning new skills to make herself more useful to us. But even with her not really being a big help, she's still a part of our group.
But why? Isn't that just a party trick skill? Reality is often disappointing.

Sometime later, I was sitting at a table with Kazuma and Megumin. She was to my right and was eating some meat along with a few vegetables, while I took a look at my adventurer card while drinking some non-alcoholic apple cider. Kazuma sat to my left, studying his adventurer card.
