What Is A Name? - Part 1

This setting was a long time coming, let's be honest here.

Setting; Death Note

OC; Mitsu - A Young Female Teen Who Went To And Lived Inside A Private Academy

Death; Kidnappers had stormed the academy she lived and studied at looking for a certain student who studied there, she lied and said that she was the one they were looking for, later murdered by the kidnappers

Reincarnated As; Female!Near

Pairings; Mitsu/Mello, Other relationships to be added, background relationships, One-sided relationships

Now, I am making up Near's past and putting my own spin on it - mostly because not much is know or stated about his past - and because of certain things and events, it changes the whole course of Mitsu's life. This causes ripples, waves, and so much to change, both little and big. I will be using my own OCs as well, OCs that have been used in Mitsu's other stories, to help fill up space and help world-build.

The reason for choosing Mitsu for this is simple - she is one of the smartest OCs that I created and would be an interesting change up compared to other reincarnation Death Note stories. Regina and Abaddon, two other of my OCs, are very smart as well, but they are just as dark if not darker than the world they would be reborn in - or have the power to be dark and darker, morally that is. Abaddon himself would start things for shits and giggles honestly, and it only takes one moment to make Regina snap completely if done correctly. My other OCs, Hope, Flora and Fae, while in no way stupid, are smarter in other areas and this shows. Flora knows the most about flowers, their meanings, and how they can be used. Hope is randomly smart, meaning her knowledge is all over the place. Fae is smart in various areas you wouldn't think go together but do because of being a phantom thief. And while it would be hilarious for Phantom Thief Rose (Fae) to change things up a lot just because, or having Hope being airheaded and oblivious self, or even having Abaddon starting trouble for giggles and just because he can, Mitsu just fit in my mind.

Although, I might do a another reincarnation in Death Note with one of my other OCs later on. Just imagining them turning the whole thing upside down just makes me laugh like a cartoon villain. Like, Fae, no matter who she is reborn as, would just throw everything into pure chaos and Abaddon would most likely be the one pulling all the strings without anyone even noticing. Hope would most likely be dragged into the whole thing, when she is living a normal life, without even noticing at first. Flora most likely the same, only with more panic involved and less oblivious compared to Hope which would make for an interesting reaction. Regina would be a mix of them all now that I am thinking about it depending on her life situation. Really, I love all my OCs so much and I love thinking about them in different settings. Makes me learn more about their characters as time goes on.

Also, this is set in Death Note. Warnings are needed - this isn't going to be a lighthearted story even if there are going to be fluffy moments and such. Please keep in mind while reading, I would hate for someone to get triggered. I'm also sorry if some characters seem OOC, I haven't written Death Note characters until now, so it might take a bit of time to get used to them and writing them. I might also play with their ages and the timeline (well, more than what I would have already done with the timeline), we'll have to see what I end up deciding.

For the setting itself, I will be adding in today's technology. Because during Death Note, they still used flip phones. So that means flat-screen TVs and smartphones will be used in this story. This isn't going to be canon at all either - meaning, this story isn't about to go full canon or anything. Just wanted to state this now. Mitsu and Near are two very different kinds of people and react to different things. Just being born a different gender is going to effect a whole lot here.
