I swear I'm going to end up going through each chapter a dozen times so editing may take a while before I like the layout of each chapter... Sorry.... Please be patient with me as I want to really tear this thing up and make it as good as I possibly can.

I sat in the middle of the class four rows back from the front. The teacher continued to babble on about something, but it wasn't like I was paying attention, whoops. My mind could only continue to page through my many thoughts.
'bag? Check. Music? Che-' I hadn't realized but the bell finally rang and in the background was a riot of students out in the halls, but my mind still continued to drift.
"H—y b—t—y" I'm brought back by a familiar voice but don't completely hear all of what is said to me. "Alice? Hello? Earth to Alice."
Everything came from a blur to focus and I looked up to see the only person who gave a shit about me, Michael. His eyes being the first thing I look into, they seemed to be in a way brighter than normal if that's even possible. Michael stands a little over six foot and has short, dark-blonde hair. His face isn't long and skinny or short and fat but practically perfect size. His eyes were a captivating green and a devilish gleam was trapped in them at all times. He was probably a typical dream guy to most girls but in this little town he's merely average. He's the one person who's always been there for me for as long as I can remember.
Now you see me on the other hand, I'm a short five and three inched girl with long and easily tangled blonde hair. My eyes are a gray blue that have tints of green at times. Some would say I'm probably the most useless human on this planet and I can only agree due to my great amount of clumsiness and lack of talent.
"Oh, hey." I say back with a small smile as my mind is still registering the current situation.
"Come on, we have to get ready." he says with slight amount of enthusiasm while pulling on my arm making me stand from my seat.
"The group isn't going to happily wait on us and you need to get something that is more suitable for our performance." he says while pinching the collar of my uniform.
"Yeah yeah I'm coming, but you could use a different outfit for the performance Mr. Top-Notch-and-Proper" I tease back while lifting my bag, slinging it over my shoulder.
"What a great thanks to me for remembering it's your birthday," he mumbled under his breath as he turned and walked towards the door.
I sigh in frustration and follow him out of the classroom and into the crowded halls.

Home wasn't perfect for me. I lived with my father who luckily never seemed to be around. My mom bailed a few years back to take off with some piece of trash she found wandering the streets one night. She told me before she left that he had issues but she could help him. Last time I saw her was by accident; she had been wandering the streets, completely out of her mind and strung out more than I had ever seen anyone to be in this town. She was too far gone to realize who I was at the time so I didn't get caught up in an awkward situation. My father on the other hand always had a hard time with alcohol.
I do remember before everything spiraled downwards for us. Mom still had her issues but Dad had a good job; we lived in a beautiful home till I was maybe 5. We were normal to say the least. Nowadays Dad continued to hold a decent job, for a few months at a time that is, but we weren't on the streets so I guess he had something going right for him. The issue however was when he came home.
Before mom bailed I had found a door in the ceiling of my closet. It lead to the attic which seemed to never be thought about in my luck, so I'd climb one shelf after another and slip away into my safe zone. Over time I acquired a collection of small books and a few flashlights up there for when nights were bad along with an old pillow and a torn up blanket.
