My teacher and friend, Amelie Phélès, lies there dying before me. She seemed so weak. There must be something I can do! Amelie beckoned for me to come closer, and it seemed as though she was struggling to focus.

Amelie: M..Marzia, is that you?

Jasmin: No, I'm Jasmin.

Amelie: Jasmin? You just look a lot like Marzia.

Jasmin: I do?

Amelie forced a smile, despite there being tears in her eyes.

Amelie: Oh, very much yes. I am so sorry for being a terrible teacher to you.

Jasmin: No- that's not true!

Amelie: But it is. You need to focus now, Jasmin. You need to save your parents. If you don't, then Rynna Phélès will cease to exist. We need her, Jasmin...the world needs her.

Jasmin: I don't understand. That doesn't make any sense! I wanted to save you, Amelie. How do I save you?

Amelie: You can't. My death is a fixed event in time.

Jasmin: Julius! I'll go get Julius!

Amelie: He's left Ludovic mansion and won't be back in time. Besides even if he could save me, I wouldn't want him to.

Jasmin: But why?

Amelie: I have to die, so that you can become the woman you need to be. The future needs a sorceress queen.

Amelie turned her attention to Kurtis.

Amelie: I'm very sorry, for everything.

Kurtis: Don't be. I'll never forget you, Amelie Phélès.

Amelie: Yes, you will sweetie. I'm sorry, but you'll forget me very soon.

Kurtis: What do you mean?

Amelie: There's a spell on this dungeon. It causes you to forget that this room exist, what you did down here and to who. It makes you forget everything which could compromise your ability to serve Augustus. I fear you'll forget about me completely. It wouldn't do to have such a sad servant.

Kurtis: But- I'm just his gardener!

Amelie: No. I fear Augustus made you do much worse than that. Just look at what he made you do to me! It's the spell I cast on you, Kurtis. Augustus asked for you to always be loyal to him although I doubt that he thought I'd take 'always' so literally.

Kurtis: I-I don't understand.

Amelie: You will live for a very long time. If you're lucky, you may even live forever.  Yet you will stay just as you are..just as I remember you now. It's my gift to you, although somedays, it may feel more like a curse.

Kurtis: I..I don't know what to say.

Amelie: Now- my gift to you, Jasmin, is my strength and weakness. I give you sight, along with most of the magic which flows through me. It is of little use to me now.

Jasmin: The sight? But-

Amelie: Posuit visus est ad eam..

A dark purple smoke swiftly gushed from Amelie's mouth and entered mine. For a brief second, I felt a powerful force engulfed me and I wasn't able to feel the same.

What just happened? I feel more powerful...

With that, the last of Amelie's strength left her and she lies at my feet, dead. As if in a trance, Kurtis stood up.

Kurtis: I..I have to go and tend to the garden.

Jasmin: At this time of night?

Kurtis: Augustus told me to look after his garden while he's gone. I have no choice. Servants never really have a choice.
