Who is Ghost Spider?

A/N: This is based on Ghost Spider's backstory given in "Marvel Rising: Initiation".

Ghost Spider swings through the city evading the police. For months now she had been blamed for the death of a teenaged boy named Kevin. But she's innocent, Kevin was her best friend. And if having the entire NYPD on her tail wasn't bad enough, Gwen's dads are also trying to hunt down Ghost Spider, for killing their baby-girl's best friend.

"Ya know, it's really hard to save people when everyone thinks you're a murderer." Gwen grumbled to herself.

The superhero finally got away from the police chase, and decided to take a short break on the roof of an empty building.

"Phew...finally lost them." sighed Gwen.

Suddenly, her spider-sense tingled and she barely dodges a metal fist. She jumps back a few feet to create distance between her and her attacker. Looking towards him, Gwen realized it was Bucky, her dad. Then she looks above her and sees Falcon, her other dad.

"Look, I don't wanna fight you. Please just listen to me." Gwen pleaded.

"We're not gonna listen to any of your lies, you heartless killer!" Bucky growled.

"I didn't kill him, I swear!" Gwen replied.

"LIAR!" Bucky yelled lunging at Ghost Spider.

Ghost Spider jumps over him, then shoots a web-line at Falcon. She swings him into Bucky knocking them both down, next she webs them down.

"Sorry. But I know who really killed Kevin, and you're not gonna stand in my way of finding her." said Gwen.

She swings away as fast as she can. A few minutes later, about mid-swing, Ghost Spider is swooped up by Falcon.

"You're not getting away from us that easily." said Sam.

"Let me go!!" shouted Gwen kneeing Falcon's sternum, causing him to drop her.

While falling, she activates her gliders and glides a few feet before continuing to swing. Out the corner of her eye she saw Bucky jumping from building to building, trying to keep up with her. 

"D*mn! They're so persistent." Gwen said to herself.

Before she could react, something hits Ghost Spider and sends an electrical shock all throughout her body. She falls into an alley and bounces off a dumpster before hitting the ground hard.

"Gahhhuhhgggg!!" Gwen groaned in pain.

Her shoulder had popped out of its socket and she was sure at least two of her ribs were broken. Also her head was throbbing, so there's a slight chance of a concussion. Ghost Spider slowly gets to her feet and tries to make a break for it, but Bucky grabs her and pins her against the wall by the throat.

"Do you have any idea how much you've hurt our daughter?!" asked Bucky angrily

"She hasn't been the same happy girl since you killed her best friend." added Sam.

"Please...you gotta believe me...I-I didn't kill anyone." Gwen cried.

"Your fake crying isn't going to work on us. Sammy, call S.H.I.E.L.D. this one's going to a max security prison where she belongs." said Bucky.

"No!" Gwen begged.

"But first lets see who's under this mask." Sam said reaching for Ghost Spider's mask.

After taking off the mask, Sam and Bucky are shocked and horrified when they see their daughter staring back at them with tears in her eyes. Bucky immediately lets go of her and she slides down the wall to the ground. 

"Gwen! Baby!" Sam said kneeling next to her and cupping her face.

"I'm sorry." Gwen sobbed.

"I-I should've told you a long time ago." she added burying her face into Sam's shoulder.

"It's okay, honey, it's okay." Sam said trying to soothe his daughter...and himself.

All Bucky could do was stand there in complete shock, staring blankly at his shaking hands. He was freaking out, he did the very thing he was so terrified of; he had hurt someone he loved. It was like all his nightmares were coming true.

"Daddy?" Gwen said, bringing him out of his thoughts.

Crying, Bucky falls to his knees and envelops Gwen in a tight hug.

"I'm sorry, I'm so so so sorry. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry....." Bucky sobbed repeating I'm sorry over and over.

"Daddy...stop, it wasn't your fault, you didn't know." Gwen said.

"Also...you're hugging me too tightly." she grunted.

"Oh...s-sorry." Bucky replied loosening his hold.

"So...what really happened to Kevin, sweetie?" Sam asked brushing Gwen's bangs out of her face.

Gwen explains everything to her dads. They agreed to help her find the actual person responsible for Kevin's death. When they all got home, Bucky and Sam sorted out Gwen's injuries and tucked her into bed.

"I just wish I could've saved Kevin, then none of this would've happened." Gwen said.

"I know, baby, but we can't save everyone, even our friends." Sam said.

"Now, go to sleep and get some rest." Bucky said kissing her head.

"I love you guys." Gwen yawned.

"We love you too, Gwen." replied Sam and Bucky.

While Gwen slept, her dads stayed in her room to keep an eye on her.
