I Can't Do This Anymore (A Luke Hemming)

"I'm sorry, Ash." I say.

"Luke, friends don't kiss each other's girlfriends." Ashton says, sadly.

"Ashton, friends don't date girls that they know that the other wants." I say, venom in my tone.

Ashton puts his head down, guiltily.

"Luke-"

"I can't do this anymore. I can't handle being just her friend."

Ashton rakes his hands through his hair.

I feel a light touch on my shoulder.

"I'm sorry, Luke, I'm so sorry."

This surprises me. He actually cares?

Why does this surprise me? It's Ashton, the guy that's been my friend for almost five years. Ashton cares for people.

Really, I would do the exact thing he did, if I had the chance. Still, it hurts. Oh Lord, it hurts so damn much.

"Ashton, I can't do this anymore. I can't keep watching like this. I can't just be the friend. Damnit, why?" I say.

Ashton says nothing. He just leaves, without a word.
