things are getting interesting eheheh
A whole week had passed. A very long, stressful week. A week in which America spent every day with Japan.
He never got a break from her. She was practically everywhere. Even when she wasn't present, she was in America's head, taking over his thoughts. And the more time he spent with her, the more she consumed his thoughts. America's concerns about Russia were soon replaced with even worse worries about Japan.
And now, he was standing in a large field with grass reaching up to his hips. He was currently taking Japan horseback riding.
Japan never learned how to ride a horse before, so America had the responsibility of teaching her and making sure she didn't fall. He was currently guiding the horse with the lead rope while Japan sat on top of it.
America lazily guided the horse around the field, not paying much attention to where he was going.
Out of habit from spending too much time with Japan, America allowed himself to zone out and become lost in his thoughts.
The last thing he remembered clearly before zoning out was seeing streaks of red and gold through the tall grass. After that, everything became a blur.
The sound of gunshots sent everything into chaos.
An ear piercing scream ripped through America's thoughts and snapped him back into reality. He blinked, taking a while to process what was going on. His brain seemed to work like an old gear; slowly. The lightbulb in his head finally went off and his eyes widened when he realized what was going on. An assault.
Everything seemed to happen in slow motion.
There was too much going on all at once to process what was happening.
The first thing to really happen was America ducking into the grass for coverage. He sat there, processing the information around him. He realized that his sunglasses were crooked and quickly readjusted them. He then felt adrenaline coursing through his veins, causing his breathing to speed up. He could feel his head throbbing, and he just now realized that he had a horrible headache. Even through the chaos of it all, America could still feel his heartbeat. A nice, steady beat that was quickening with each second.
America blinked, and realized that he should do something. He looked around wildly, trying to find who their attacker was. He desperately searched through the field and thought he saw something rummaging through the grass.
The next thing to happen was Japan's horse neighing loudly. The creature jumped back on its hind legs, causing Japan to screech and tighten her grip on the horse's reins. She desperately tried to tame the beast, pulling the reins back as hard as she could, but that only seemed to upset it. The horse yanked it's head forward, causing the reins to slip out of Japan's hands and almost caused her to fly off the horse. Luckily, she quickly found a way to cling onto the creature's neck. The horse spun around wildly, causing Japan to swing around its neck and scream at the top of her lungs. After a few seconds, Japan was now clinging onto the horse's neck as if she were a sloth. America, of course, had no idea this was going on because he was still searching for an attacker.
The horse finally managed to fling Japan off of its neck, and once it did, it ran away. America heard a scream and turned around to see Japan falling, which was the last thing he wanted, for he was strictly instructed to not let Japan fall.
So, in a split second, America had to make the decision to catch Japan or continue searching for an attacker.
America flung himself at Japan, extending his arms out towards her. Japan came crashing down into America's open arms, and America stumbled back from the impact.
All of this, of course, happened in under a minute.
America stood there, and Japan sat in his arms. For a few moments, there was silence except for their heavy breathing.
Japan was the first one to break the silence.
"Oh my gosh, you're bleeding!" She gasped.
"Huh?" America said. Japan pointed at America's forehead and he touched it, feeling a warm liquid. He brought his fingers down in front of his face to see that his fingers were tinted red.
"Oh. I didn't even notice," America blinked then looked at Japan. "But more importantly, are you alright?" He asked, quickly changing the subject.
Japan stared back at America. Sitting there in his arms, she just now started to realize how muscular he was. She examined his face, which seemed to be chiseled to perfection. His new gash, which was now bleeding, made him look really hot. Even those dumb sunglasses that he wore all the time made him look kind of cool.
"I am now, thanks to you," She breathed, looking deep into his eyes, but then blushing and turning away.
America grunted in response. He never understood girls and why they always acted so shy.
America stood there for a while, but then it then occurred to him that they were still standing in the field and that there was still a strong likelihood that they could get attacked.
"We should get out of here," America whispered in a low voice, fearing that someone might hear them. Japan nodded quickly, and America left, carrying Japan in his arms.
The last thing America remembered seeing before exiting the field was a man standing in the distance. His face was red and gold.
