i think this is the first chapter with swear words
America kicked open the front door and stumbled inside his house. A blast of air conditioning greeted him, which felt good considering the fact that he spent the entire day outside in what was practically hell. He was hot, sweaty, and tired. All he wanted to do was take a nap for 3 days straight.
A maid took notice of America's grand entrance and came racing over to him.
"Welcome home Master Ame—" The maid stopped mid-sentence when she realized that America was bleeding and gasped. "You're bleeding!"
"Thank you, I'm quite aware of that," America grunted, practically dropping Japan and shoving her into the maid's arms. "Take 'er to the hospital wing. I'm going upstairs."
America hobbled upstairs and ignored the maid's flustered protests. As much as he wanted to pass out, he first had to wash off all that blood.
---
It felt good to wash off all that crusty-ass blood, at least that's what America thought. He exited the shower, feeling like Mr. Clean. He grabbed a towel and wiped himself down, making sure he was dry. Slowly, he climbed into bed, not having enough energy to get dressed. He passed out the moment his head touched the pillow.
---
America woke up disoriented and in a pool of sweat.
What time is it? Was his first thought, looking around his room. Judging by the peak of sunlight in his room, he guessed it was probably 6 p.m.
America looked at his clock.
Nope, definitely not 6 p.m.
It was five in the morning.
America got up anyway, knowing that Britain's old-man-ass woke up whenever the sun rose and was probably up by now. America quickly got dressed and headed downstairs to eat breakfast. He stumbled into the kitchen, and predictably, Britain was already awake, drinking tea and reading the newspaper.
"Nice to see you finally awake," Britain commented, sipping his tea.
America rolled his eyes. "How long was I out?"
"A day and a half."
Sweet. America thought to himself, grabbing a banana and peeling it.
"Japan is alright if you were wondering," Britain remarked. America wasn't wondering, mostly because he forgot about what happened with her, but the news made him choke on his banana.
"That's... Good," America swallowed, silently cursing himself for being so forgetful.
Britain nodded in response and continued to sip his drink. The steam from Britain's tea fogged his glasses, and America wondered how his father was still able to read like that.
It remained silent between the two men for a while, until Britain began to speak again. "I heard what happened with Japan, that she fell off the horse..."
Shit, America panicked. Of course I did the one thing he told me not to do. Shit shit shit shi—
"Good job."
America turned to his father. "Wha—"
"You heard me, son, I said good job!" Britain smiled. He stood up and walked over to America. "Japan informed me of your heroic act, saying you were—and I quote— 'her knight in shining armour.' She kept going on and on, talking of your bravery and courage. She even told her father about you, saying you saved her life. Her father was very gracious and kept on thanking us. He even thanked me, but I told him, 'You should be thanking my son!'" Britain chuckled, patting America on the back. He paused, taking time to think about his next words, "You exceeded my expectations, son. I'm proud of you."
America blinked. Those were words he never heard from his father. Ever.
"But—"
Britain interrupted America before he could say anything else. "Quiet, son. I just gave you a compliment. You should not be disagreeing with me."
America shut up and quietly nodded. Britain continued, "Anyways, as I was saying, it turns out the Empire of Japan did thank you."
America looked at his father. "What?"
Britain nodded, pointing at a letter on the kitchen counter that America somehow didn't notice. He walked over to the table and opened it.
It was an invitation.
