Why Demon House Guests are Bad Company
Myra's Point of View
Ok, I admit it. I've never been kissed. Well, not until about 10 seconds ago when Dru suddenly approached me out of nowhere and stole what I thought was going to be the most romantic moment of my life. But really, who am I kidding? From what I hear, first kisses are usually awkward and uneasy. I guess in that respect I should be grateful, because the kiss is anything but awkward.
It was obvious that Dru was quite comfortable with the act. With his open personality Myra would not have been surprised if he kissed total strangers all the time. And she had just done him quite a large favor, so this shouldn't have been that much of a shock to her.
What did surprise her though, was how easily she accepted the kiss. She didn't kiss back or anything, but if you had asked her beforehand she would have stated that her reaction in such a scenario would have involved pushing him away, automatically followed by a well deserved slap. However, for reasons that she could not fathom, she was totally at ease with the situation. Then there's that voice in the back of her mind telling me to just give in and kiss back.
Psh! That is not going to happen! I have my standards. And they do not include kissing guys I just met. No matter how friendly he is or the fact that he could probably rip me to shreds with his demon powers, I am not kissing back. I'll just patiently stand here and wait for him to remove himself from my presence.
Shouldn't he be done by now?

"Finally!" exclaimed an exasperated, beat-red Meris who had just succeeded in prying Dru away from Myra's presence. "What were you trying to do, smother her to death with your face?"
"Oh, you're just jealous that I got to her before you." Dru replied while patting Meris on the head. "Don't worry; I'm sure that someday you will find a girl just as nice as Myra. Then you can kiss her all you want."
Meris clenched his jaw and scowled at him. A low growl could be heard emitting from his throat. "At least I don't have to depend on something as low as 'charming' a girl in order to let me kiss her."
"Don't worry about it so much Meris," Dru responded. "She was just caught off guard. My 'charming' didn't even seem to work on her." With a low voice he added, "And I was really trying to get her to kiss me back."
Sam meanwhile, stood off to the side and attempted to smother what suspiciously sounded like light laughing.
That guy has an odd sense of humor, Myra thought. Humor... Good Humor... ice cream! I totally forgot about my ice cream waiting for me at home! I need that stuff now more than ever.
So, Myra decided to execute Standard Escape Plan 2-C.
"Sorry guys, but I think I hear my mom calling. Gotta go... bye!" Then she ran home.

"Phew, I'm finally home." Myra said as she entered through the kitchen. But before she could even shut the door, her mother ran in with an incredibly worried look on her face.
"Myra, you're so late! I thought you would be back hours ago. I was just thinking about calling the police to send out a search party for you." Without taking a breath Myra's mother continued, "And look at you! You're soaking wet. I told you not to forget your umbrella this morning. Now you're going to get sick and miss classes, and get kicked out of college, and never get a good job and... who are they?" she asked while pointing behind Myra.
Oh no. Oh no. Myra nearly started hyperventilating. I'm not even going to turn around, because they did not follow me here. It's just a figment of my mother's overstressed imagination.
