Chapter Six

(Sorry for any mistakes and all that. Had a very busy few days and I'm falling asleep while typing this. Oops.)

The next morning, Shigure woke up early to check up on Amai. It took him ages to fall asleep the night before because he knew he had hurt her but he needed to apologise. After freshening up in the bathroom, he went to her room and knocked on the door.

There was no answer. He knocked again but again there was no answer.

"Amai?" he called. There was still no response. "Amai?"

Yuki came out of his room to make his way down when he saw Shigure outside her room. He was in his school uniform, getting ready to leave.

"She left this morning," he said.
Shigure turned to him. "What?"
"About an hour ago. I saw her leave the house when I woke up to go to the bathroom."
"Where did she go?"
Yuki shrugged. "I didn't get to ask her."
"Alright. Thank you."

Once Yuki made his way downstairs, Shigure went to his room to get his phone. He dialled Amai's number and silently prayed that she would pick up.

"Hello?" she answered.
He breathed a huge sigh of relief. "Amai, thank goodness you're okay. I was so worried. Where are you?"
"Oh, I'm at the library. I needed to change my books and I wanted to get it done early," she explained. "I'm sorry for worrying you."
"No, it's okay." He paused for a moment. "Amai, I'm sorry."
"Don't be. I was being ridiculous."
"You weren't. You had every right to be upset with me," he said.
"You better make it up to me," she laughed lightly.
He smiled upon hearing her laugh. "I will. When will you be back?"
"Um, I think I'm going to be about another hour."
"Okay. I need to head out to run some errands so I may not be home by the time you get back," he told her. "Just let me know when you get home."
"I will."
"Okay. I'll see you later."
"Okay, Shigure. Byeeeee."

He chuckled softly as he hung up. He finally felt at ease knowing that she wasn't upset with him anymore. But that still wasn't going to stop him from making it up to her. Once he was ready, he left the house.

When Amai returned home, she saw that no one was there. She knew the boys were at school, so Shigure must have been out running his errands. She dropped him a text:

I'm home

She went straight to the office and put her books down before grabbing something to eat. She didn't want to think about what had happened the night before so she focused on her assignment.

However, she kept checking her phone after every few words. There was still no reply from Shigure. After a couple of hours had gone by, she decided to call him. She called his number but there was no answer. So, she tried again. Still no answer.

"Where are you, Shigure?" she thought aloud.

She was becoming worried. She sent him another text message.

When are you coming home?

She was getting scared as she began to think the worst. She called him again as tears welled up in her eyes but he still didn't answer.

"No, no, no... Shigure, please be okay..."

He didn't answer. It had already been four hours since she had returned home and there was no sign of him. She decided to give it one more go before calling the police. She dialled his number again with very little hope.

"Hello, Amai," his voice came, completely as normal.
She gasped, "Shigure!" Her tears fell down her cheeks. "You're okay! Where are you?! You haven't answered any of my texts or calls!"
"Amai, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to scare you. My phone was on silent."
She cried out of sheer relief. "You idiot! I was so scared, I thought something happened to you!"
"I'm sorry. I really am."
"So you should be! When are you coming home?"
"Not yet."
"Why-"
"I want you to come to me," he told her.
She blinked in confusion. "What?"
"I need to show you something."
She switched off the computer. "But where are you?"
"I'll be waiting for you in the park. Where we shared our first kiss."
She went to put her shoes on. "You're scaring me, Shigure..."
"It's nothing to be worried about. I promise."
"Okay. I'm on my way."
