CHAPTER VI

"Now listen close child, for this is an old story that began many centuries ago," the Goddess spoke, her voice itself calming me down as my tears ceased pouring, "Now, there once was a land...

A land far away, where two kingdoms stood strong and tall. One belonging to the Zeita family and the other to the Dumnezeu family. In this land lived a girl...

A girl who wished nothing more than to be set free. Free from the nightmares that plagued her reality. And it seemed that her wish would soon come to be...

To be a dream that she would never wake up from, nor did she wish to─"

"Do you recognize this story, Lynnette?" the Goddess asked softly, I looked into her eyes and nodded, the vulnerability visible in her wide eyes.

"It's your story," I replied in the same tone. Everyone knew the story of the Goddess, well, as best as one knew of the origin of one's Goddess.

"Yes, my story," she confirmed, as she tightened her hold around me, "you see, the unification of the kingdoms wasn't as easy as it might of seem. Once we married our parents wanted to continue to rule. But we couldn't let that happen, not anymore. Our people were suffering, dying. The kingdoms were at rock bottom. We wanted to make a change. So, we left."

The first thought that crossed my mind was that none of that was mentioned in any of my history textbooks. "You... left?" I asked, completely lost.

"We had to build our own power. You see, although we were crowned Queen and King, the power was in our parent's hands. We were simply their puppets. Power makes many greedy, and sadly, our parents had been overtaken by such sinful thing. So we left and began our kingdom. Many of our followers being from the old kingdom, rebels, tired of the unfair treatment delivered in such lands.

"We grew fast, our new kingdom being the by far better option than the old ones. Soon we had a lot to stand with the big powers, our parents. We should of dethrone them and have a happy ever after, but as you may know, that rarely happens. Their greed was too strong. They used dark magic. Wiped most of us out by the third night. T-they killed" she paused to control her breath, "Everything was gone,

"So I sought out Savannah of No Tribe─" this time I couldn't help but interrupt her.

"Savannah? THE witch Savannah?"

The Goddess giggled at this, "Yes, the Savannah, the one that since before my day they spoke fearfully about. The witch that left nothing in her path.

"I sought her help to destroy those who did me wrong. She was happy to help. And so I did. I took everyone out, or so I thought. A royal of our family remained alive. As I rebuilt what was once lost, and sought to give the gift of eternal bonding to my people who were now half beast, he weaved his hatred and passed it down through the centuries.

"So you see Lynnette, Easton's father's death, and your pack's death has long been coming,"

Although I hadn't completely digested this newfound information, I quickly spoke, "But my pack, Easton killed them. He killed everyone! He killed me!"

"I know child, believe me, I know." she said, "But don't fear. Everything will be okay. Easton was just filled with revenge, I guess it runs in the Zeita veins.

"Now, don't you worry and hear me out. Those who've strayed will soon find their way and those who've wrong my being will be forsaken. Now, listen close Lynette, you are my commander now."

I looked back to where Easton stood, calling out to me as he faded into the white fog. He would be just fine. Everything will figure itself out. All I need to focus is on training and doing my part. Turning away I walked back towards the Goddess, she was waiting for me with a big smile on her petite face.

"Good job, darling," she said, stroking my face, "Work hard. I am counting on you," with that, she turned her body and signaled behind her. There stood two figures that I automatically recognized.

"Mom? Dad?" I whispered, tears brewing in my eyes as I turned towards the Goddess, she nodded and gave me an encouraging smile. With no more hesitation, I ran towards the two that held so much space in my heart. As I was embraced into their warm arms I broke down in sobs as I felt a missing piece of my heart go back in place.

"Lynnette, sweetie, it's okay," mom said, rubbing my back, trying along with me, "It's okay sweetie. We're okay."

Dad pressed a kiss on my forehead as we shared a group hug, simply enjoying each other's warmth. "How has our little fighter been?" dad asked, ruffling my hair as he always used to.

I giggled at him, wiping straying tears from my cheeks, "Fighting, dad, always fighting."

"And our little champ?" he asked.

"Andre is fine, he'll be fine," I said, knowing Andre will move forward from all of this. He was a Howlee after all.

"Yes he will," said mom, placing a comforting hand on my shoulder, "Our little champ will be just fine. Don't you doubt it."

"The Goddess has talked to us too, Honey," dad spoke reassuringly, "She has great plans for you, don't doubt that for a second! You are a Howlee, a warrior. You've earned your position as her army's Commander, Honey."

I smiled at him, a warmth spreading from my heart, "Thank you, Dad. That means so much coming from you. I promise I'll work hard. I won't let you guys down," not this time.

"We know you won't Sweetie," mom smiled, "you never could."

"Time is up," spoke the Goddess, who till now I thought had left.

"Go keep fighting our little fighter!" dad said, throwing his arm over mom's shoulder as they comforted each other.

I smiled at them, "Always."

Sorry for the late night. I've been getting accustomed to my job. I can't believe how much I'm enjoying being a CNA. But it's hard work and takes most of my day. I do come home and try to write a little before going to bed. So don't worry, chapters will continue to be posted every other week as I can.

Though, I do want to get to 50 Followers on twitter because I want to begin posting on there more often. So, if we get to that goal before the two weeks, I'll upload. TWITTER: retroxvintager

As always,
