Shaylynn can't believe Hunter sent her a text like that but how did he get her number. She puts her phone back in her pocket when it goes back off catching her off guard. Reaching into her pocket she's hesitant about pulling it out but finally does. When she looks at it she sees it's Severide calling her, she exhales and answers his call. "Hello," she says. "Mark Hunter is dead! He was found in his New York apartment," Severide tells her. "What?!" Shaylynn says shocked but more pissed off that she's not the one who did it. "Was that anything to do with you?" he asks her. Shaylynn rolls her eyes, "No! I've been preoccupied with Jay and the twins! Was it suicide?" "I don't know. I just heard it on the news," Severide tells her. "You can't tell Beth!" Shaylynn tells him. "She'll find out," he tells her. "You must be happy he's totally out of the picture," she says to him. "Well yeah! But Beth won't see it like that! She'll blame herself! He loved her!" Severide says, "Are you going to tell her?" "I don't know, should I?" Shaylynn asks him, "She'll fucking think it was me anyway!" "No, she won't!" Severide says. "Really, Kelly! Anymore when someone ends up dead, I'm the first person people think took them out," she tells him, "You tell her if you want!" "No! I don't want to see her crying over another guy!" Severide tells her sounding depressed even thinking about Beth shedding a tear for this man. "You want her to hear it on the news?" she asks him. "Fuck Shaylynn! You tell her, please," Severide says. "So I'm the bad guy?" Shaylynn asks. "Then she can come to me!" Severide tells her. Shaylynn shakes her head and hangs up on him. She can't believe all the bullshit that's going on. The twins, then Jay getting shot, Hunter, and now Mark being found dead. Will it ever end!

Later that night after leaving the hospital, Shaylynn stops by Beth's place. "Hi, what are you doing here?" Beth asks her. They both go into the living room and sit down on the couch. Shaylynn can see Beth can tell something's up. "Has something happened?" Beth asks. "Yeah, Mark's been found dead in his apartment," Shaylynn tells her. Shaylynn stares at Beth who's just staring back her. She waits for Beth to start crying. "Oh my God!" Beth finally says. "No tears?" Shaylynn asks. "Was it you?" Beth asks. Shaylynn rolls her eyes, "No, I've been at the hospital with the twins." Shaylynn sits there and waits for the waterworks, "How did he die?" Beth asks her "He was found hanging," Shaylynn tells her. "Oh my God! It's my fault!" Beth says as she stands up and covers her face. Beth finally started to cry. Shaylynn stands up, walks over, and puts her arms around her, "You loved him, didn't you?" silence, "Did you?" "I don't know. It was more lust I think! Was it on the news?" Beth questions. Shaylynn wipes the tears from Beth's eyes, "Yeah, Kelly saw it on the news earlier today." "Why didn't he tell me himself?" Beth asks. "I don't think he could bear to see you crying over another man," Shaylynn tells her. "I'm upset he died because of me," Beth tells her. "Beth, it wasn't your fault!" Shaylynn tells her. "Anyways, Kelly and I are going to try for another baby," Beth tells her changing the subject. "Are you having the implant taken out then?" Shaylynn asks. "Tomorrow," Beth says. "Don't you think you should wait a little while longer?" Shaylynn asks her. "I don't want to wait. We want a football team!" Beth tells her. Shaylynn knows that's coming from Severide. Leaving Beth's, Shaylynn heads home.

After pulling into the garage, Shaylynn gets ready to get out of her SUV when her phone goes off. Being tired, she unlocks it and doesn't bother to see who the text messages from.
