Chapter 20 "What About Us"

Meeting Jill, Jenna, and the kids inside the airport, all their bags are checked and all they can do now is sit and wait for the plane to arrive.
While waiting for their plane, Jacquelyn falls asleep in Jill's arms as the twins start to fall asleep in their car seats as Jenna rocks them with her feet.
Halstead and Shaylynn decide to get up and walk around to kill some time.

Walking out of Barbara's Bookstore, Halstead runs into Austin.
They both stare at each other as Shaylynn gets in between them, "Come on guys, not here," she says pushing them apart.
"What are you doing?" Austin asks looking at Shaylynn.
Before Shaylynn can say anything, Halstead blurts it out, "We're going to go and get married!" he tells Austin as Austin gets a surprised look on his face.
"What about us?" he asks Shaylynn.
"There's no you and her!" Halstead says standing in front of her.
"We're married!" Austin tells Halstead getting into his face.
"AUSTIN!" Shaylynn yells at him.
Austin smiles, "So, she never told you," he says to Halstead.
Halstead turns around and looks at Shaylynn, "What is he talking about?" he asks her.
"We need to go somewhere and talk," she tells Halstead.
He walks around her, she gives Austin an evil look, "You go somewhere and sit down! I'll deal with you here in a little bit!" she tells him.

Shaylynn hurries up and catches up with Halstead, "What is Austin talking about?" he asks her again as he sits down, Shaylynn sitting down beside him.
"It happened in Bali. Austin and I got drunk one night, did a stupid thing and got married," she tells him, "This is when all that shit was going on with Abby and I didn't think the papers were going to go through the court and you wanted to stay with her!"
Halstead looks at her depressed, "So you're married to Austin? Why are we going to Belize and getting married if you're already married to someone else?" he asks.
Shaylynn shakes her head, "It's not like that! I'm not married to Austin, well not here legally. The United States doesn't recognize marriages done in Bali unless certain protocols are followed. Being drunk, we didn't follow those protocols. According to the United States government, I am legally able to marry you," Shaylynn tells him, "That's if you still want to marry me?"
Halstead runs a hand through his hair, "But he still thinks you two are married," he tells her.
"We are only technically married in Bali," Shaylynn tells him.
"Then get a divorce! Get an annulment, anything! Just get it taken care of!" Halstead says.
"Don't you think I've tried?!" Shaylynn asks him, "According to their laws, he and I have to wait two years before we can get a divorce there! So I have to stay out of Bali for two years. Once it's up, I can go back and file for a divorce from Austin."
Halstead shakes his head out of disbelief, "How do you know this won't happen to us getting married in Belize?" he asks her.
"Because I have a wedding planner down there and she has taken care of everything to make sure THIS doesn't happen and our marriage will be legal back here in the United States!" she tells him, "Do you still want to marry me?" Shaylynn asks him again.
Halstead stands up, he puts his hand out to her. Shaylynn puts her hand on his and he helps her stand up.
"Of course I still want to marry you!" Halstead tells her, "You're the love of my life! During that whole mess, I couldn't handle thinking I lost you for good!"
Shaylynn smiles at him a little as she moves closer to him putting her arms around his waist as he puts his arms around her.
After a minute, he backs up and cups her face with his hands, "I love you!" he tells her.
Shaylynn quickly moves in and starts kissing him.
A minute later she backs up a little, "I love you too!"
"We better get back over where we need to be before they call our flight," Halstead tells her.
Shaylynn smiles as Halstead grabs her hand and they start walking along.

Walking past the area waiting for a flight to the UK, Shaylynn sees Austin sitting there, "I'll just be a moment," she tells Halstead.
Halstead looks over and sees Austin, "Alright," he tells her.
Shaylynn walks away heading in Austin's direction.
Austin sees her and smiles, "So you coming with me?" he asks her.
"No, I'm going to Belize and getting married," Shaylynn tells him, Austin shakes his head hearing her answer, "And before you say that he can't buy me or give me what I want, I don't need him to buy me anything! I can buy my own things! And as for giving me what I want, he has been giving me what I want by giving me his unconditional love! With that fuck up with the courts when he had to be with Abby and I was with you, he still loved me! That man loves me no matter what!" she tells Austin.
Austin stands up, "What about you? Who do you love?" he asks.
"Austin, I love you, I do but I'm in love with Jay! Don't you understand there's a difference? I love my Dad, I love Beth and Kelly, and I love you but I'm madly in love with Jay!" she tells him.
Austin smiles at her, "I guess that does it then," he says.
"What do you mean?" Shaylynn asks.
"That the best man won your heart!" Austin tells her as his flight is called, "Best wishes to you and your marriage! I'm sure I'll see you around Chicago so make sure you say hi."
Shaylynn smiles, "Thanks! And I will!" she tells him, Austin moves in for a hug, "You'll find someone else," she says in his ear.
"No one like you!" he tells her, "I'll have to try really hard to find someone that looks like you to match this tattoo."
"I told you not to get it!" she reminds him,
"Yeah, yeah! Too late now! You know we could always catch a flight to Bali and have one last hoorah, " Austin tells her.
"Austin!" Shaylynn says as she backs out of the hug.
"I'm just saying," he says laughing as he grabs his carry on, "Have a wonderful time in Belize," he tells her as he starts walking away.
"Have a safe trip!" Shaylynn says.
Austin turns around and waves at her.
