 they were leaning against the wall until she walked out and then evergreen asked, "What happened? are you ok?" lucy nodded and said, "Yeah , I am fine. but it is getting late, you all should be getting home." she handed her a teleportation lacrima before walking off. his team knew she was his mate because he told them after the first dinner. he walked after ehr and said over his shoulder, "You guys go on." he followed her smell to a room on the top floor, he opened the door and she was sitting in the window staring out at the night sky. he walked over to her and she said, "What are you doing here laxus?" laxus raised an eyebrow because she barely ever called him laxus and it was always when he was annoyed with him. he didn't even know what he did wrong this time. he picked her up and wrapped his coat around her. he sat in the window and made it so she was still facing the window sos eh could stare at the night sky again. she wrapped her arms around his neck after a second and it was almost like she thought he would just push her away and walk out. he smelled salt in the air and realised she was crying. he tightened his hold and just let her cry. then he heard her say, "I hate when they are right. it is annoying." laxus smirked and she said, "Why do you do this laxus?" he hated that she was calling him by his name, it was as if she was distancing herself from him and he would not be able to deal with that. he was running a hand through her hair and he asked, "Do what?" Lucy sighed and said, "Put up with me. hold me while I sleep, dance with me, all of it i guess?" he shrugged slightly before saying, "Why do you think i do it?" she slapped his arm and said, "You're avoiding the question." he chuckled and said, "I do it because you let me. i like dancing under the stars with you because they make your eyes sparkle, i hold you because you fit so well in my arms, i put up with you because you put up with me." he felt her nod and the silence enveloped them for a while until he broke it while saying, "Why did you ask me this?" lucy shrugged and said, "just something the royal families said to me. it made me wonder why you would do it." he pulled her closer to him and wrapped his coat around her. she pulled it tighter around her and turned her head so it was tucked into the crook of his neck and she seemed to be falling asleep. he smiled down at her and right before she fully fell asleep she said, "One day,you will tell me the truth about why you do this." he looked down at her and she was already asleep. he smiled and said, "I do this because i love you, my beautiful mate." he kissed her head and then moved to the bed. he took of his shoes and just laid down with her one his chest. then he heard ehr mumble, "I love you too." he smiled and fell asleep.
