The Raven Raven.
I am an ordinary bird,
with ordinary wings.
I fly high above
the most ordinary things.
The special ones, the chosen ones
have their moments in the light.
While I am subjected to darkness, the toll of my plight.
I watch over chosen ones' destinies,
listening to their songs.
The beauty of them will make you cry, all night long.
I guide them to their goals,
even the ones they know not.
As I perch myself on Bystander's Branch,
glued to my spot.
The duckling finds his mother,
the elephant learns to fly.
Prince and princess meet,
wedding bells ring through the sky.
The perfect happy ending
is where I leave my post
Because all good things must come to an end,
it's not a good thing to boast.
The ducking swooped by a gull,
the elephant shot for his tusks.
Princess leaves by childbirth,
Prince dies inside and rusts.
The perfect unhappy ending
is where I leave my post.
As the good in world is slaughtered,
And you will miss it most.
I'm not an ordinary bird
with ordinary wings.
I fly high above,
witnessing many deadening things.
And when you hear me sing,
do not laugh or dance; pause
For I sing the song of death,
of which I am always the cause.
