" I can't believe he thinks that by sending me all of these things is going to make me fall at his feet!" Holly said agitatedly.

Lindsay looked at her best friend, " He does love you and wants to show you that by buying you new things. That's what gentlemen do dear."

" Well I am not one that needs to have things bought to show me that they love me."

" Holly, I don't understand you at all, I mean he is wanting to marry you."

" I know that, but at what cost?"

" What do you mean at what cost?"

" You know, he is just trying to marry me to fix my reputation and in the end he gets the heir to the Dukedom."

" Oh Holly, you have it all wrong."

" Well it's his job to prove to me otherwise, and besides I am going to make sure that everything he has sent over here is going back."

" Well what about the puppy?"

" I love the puppy, I want to keep it but what kind of message would that send?"

Lindsay patted the puppy's white head" I think you should keep him, and that would give him some hope to prove to you other wise."

Holly held the small bundle of white hair, she wanted to keep the spaniel puppy. She has always wanted a puppy of her own. She wanted to fall down at Williams feet and declare her love for him. But if she did that, she would always be doing that. She wanted to marry for love nothing else, she would except nothing less. How was she to believe that he actually loved her? He never said one word about being in love with her. He was pursuing Clarissa, not her. So what was she to believe?

Lindsay ran out the door and caught sight of her brother, he was paying the delivery boy. She ran over to him" Will's, I think you have gotten to her."

" Already? that was record setting and exactly how do you know that she is falling for me?

As brother and sister were having their conversation, they didn't notice that Holly was working. She had the footmen take back all of the things that William had sent to her back to his place. She giggled in delight as she wrote a note to go along with everything. She decided to keep the puppy, she didn't have the heart to give him back. She watched as everything was carried to the wagon out front and loaded.

As the wagon pulled away, she darted back inside and ran up the stairs. She made sure that she was in the same spot before Lindsay left. She couldn't help and giggle a bit, the surprise look on his face was going to be priceless. Lindsay was going to be surprised also, just for knowing exactly what she felt for her brother.
