Unfortunately, the guard wasn't surprised.
The scout reporting nodded. "Yep. apparently, it was another break-in at the general goods store in Riften."
"Do we even know who's doing the stealing here"? the guard inquired.
The scout replied, "I can't say for sure, but apparently it was a safe that got robbed. 500 gold and a diamond necklace, I think it was? It was done so quickly and quietly, though... I'd guess it was the act of a single person."
"One person with the contents of an entire safe?! Let alone the fact there was a lock on the thing?!" Now, that was surprising.
The scout shrugged. "We won't know till we find him--or her--if it is in fact just one person. If not, it looks like the Guild is getting back up on its feet." He chuckled at that, knowing the Thieves' Guild being involved was impossible. Their reign was long gone from Tamriel after the death of their leader.
