I came alongside Hadvar again as we descended the staircase to another large cavern. A small stream ran through the cave, creating a soothing yet eerie trickling sound.

We crossed a natural bridge and continued ahead when Hadvar suddenly whispered, "Hold up!"

We crouched down near a random wagon. Hadvar pointed at a large brown lump. "There's a bear just ahead. See her?"

I nodded.

"I'd rather not tangle with her," Hadvar admitted quietly. "Let's try and sneak by... Or, if you're feeling lucky, you can use this bow. Might take her by surprise." He handed me a long bow and some iron arrows.

Putting the bow on my back, I smirked and motioned to stay behind. Slowly but surely, I began to creep up on the bear, armed with nothing but a little dagger. Hadvar watched in surprise. I was sure he was thinking, "That idiot is going to get himself killed!"

But I had done this before. I slowly, yet confidently, approached the bear's rear side.

Then, I made a fatal mistake. I stepped on a rock, causing it to make a crunching noise against the ground. I winced as the bear got up and sniffed the air.

It quickly turned around and stared me straight in the eyes. For that one moment, I felt the rush of adrenaline pulse through my veins as I locked gazes with the gigantic, hairy beast. But I wasted no time in jumping up and rushing at it.

After a moment of blade versus claw, the bear crumpled to the ground. I staggered back, breathing heavily. The bear had given me a large gash to his side before it fell. I wrapped some extra linen around the wound. That encounter hadn't gone as well as I had hoped it would, but I proceeded to collect my rewards from the bear.

Hadvar watched the process, both shocked and impressed. I turned back to him and motioned that we continue.

We finally made it to an opening that had a bright light shining through it. The outdoors! I stood at the opening and took a deep breath, relieved to be breathing fresh air once again.

Hadvar choked with an overjoyed laugh, "This looks like the way out! I was starting to think we'd never get out of here!"

We both ran out of the cave.

There was nothing better than seeing the great blue sky again. I took a second to admire the soft snow clinging to the branches of the fir trees.

However, I didn't have much time to rejoice, for a force shook the ground.

We jumped for cover behind a jutting boulder as the black dragon soared overhead. It gave a final, mighty roar and glided past the distant mountains.

We stood up, slightly shaking. Hadvar said optimistically, "Looks like he's gone for good this time. But let's not stick around in case he comes back."

We started down the only path in front of us.

AN: in celebration of the release of SSE (Skyrim: Special Edition), I decided to start this up again. It was honestly kinda funny to read over stuff I had written over a year ago. I sucked ass at writing compared to now XD If anyone was wondering, I'm basing Robin's story off of an actual profile I've started specifically for this fanfic. My plan is to play and write as I go, which I thought would be a fun idea! Time will tell. Anyways, I won't stay as committed to this story as I am with En Garde! and don't expect to any time soon (because I can't play Skyrim all the time, unfortunately), and I'll probably post short bursts of chapters.

I plan to make each chapter after this a bit over 1,000 words, as I found that approach to be a good way of measuring my chapter lengths. As I'm basically a Skyrim addict who has been playing on and off for 4 years, I'd be more than happy to answer any questions regarding characters, lore, and stuff like that (unless it's a spoiler), but I expect most readers to come here already knowing what Skyrim is about. That being said, I appreciate everyone's support, and if you want to read a less action-packed and more romantic story of mine, then check out En Garde! A White Rose Fanfiction. That's all from me. Adios!
