Chapter Forty: Promised Day

Elsa finally stirred awake to find herself in a dark room, no light illuminated anywhere except from the space from the floor to the bottom of the door. Her head throbbed from the blow she had taken to the head a few times at the castle. Her heart clenched  when she remembered what happened seeing the tower explode into flames with Mathias, Kristoff and Christian inside. She couldn’t believe that they were gone but a faint sob escaped her lips knowing that she’ll never see them again.

“M-Mathias…” She whispered to herself as tears began to slide down her face like a stream.

"So, you finally decided to wake up did you?" someone spoke from the darkest corner of the room shocking Elsa from her thoughts.

"W-who's there?!" She shouted as she looked around frantically. She went to move but couldn't move her arms. She finally noticed that her hands were chained to the wall along with her legs and quickly  became fully aware of what's going on.

"Let me go now, there's no point in holding me captive whoever you are." She said fear dreaded in her eyes as she spotted movement in the darkness as her eyes adjusted a bit.

"Oh… so you already forgotten who i am already, pity." The man said as he came out of the shadows. It was Hans and there was rage evident on the shadowy outline of his face as he continued to walk closer to her

"What did I ever do to you?" She asked, afraid she already knew the answer. Hans gritted his teeth before he smacked her across the face in anger. She felt the sting but wouldn’t give him the satisfaction as she looked back up in defiance.

"You... You took everything from me! The throne, my title, the kingdom, everything!" He yelled at the blond woman who was bonded to the wall. He then looked across the cell to Anna, who was chained against the wall. Her left cheek swollen and a small gash on the right side of the head. He then turned to the other women and sadistically smiled down at her. "Oh... Elsa, now I'll return the favor. Watch as I slowly murder your precious sister." He said as he pulled out his dagger from its sheath.

"Don't you dare... DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH HER!" She screamed in anger. A curdling scream was heard through the room stopping Hans mid step as he looked at the door in irritation.

"What's going on out there!" He bellowed and then an all too familiar roar was heard and the man was now fully aware of what's going on.

“No it couldn’t be.” Elsa said to herself in disbelief but her attention quickly went back to Hans as he stared out in horror.

"TAKE HIM DOWN!" She heard someone say outside the door followed by another roar. Hans tightened his grip on his dagger in anger and rushed over to Anna.

"I WON'T LET ANYONE STOP ME FROM GETTING MY REVENGE!" He yelled as he raised his dagger above the younger women. The door busted off its hinges and a tall shadowy figure slowly appeared in the doorway. He made a heavy step on his right leg as he walked in. Scars illuminated over the top part of his body along with some new wounds on his right side. His attention was fully on the armed man. His amber eyes glowed in the dark as he stared dangerously at the man standing before him.

“M-Mathias, you’re okay.” She said in relief as she watched him slowly walk in the room his eyes never losing sight of Hans as he clenched his fists tightly making Hans stumble back a bit.

"H-How?! You're supposed to be dead!" Hans said startled. A low growl came from Mathias's throat before he unleashed his furious roar that boomed throughout the room causing Elsa to flinch slightly but watched as the two men charged each other in fury. Hans’ blade connected to Mathias’s left shoulder causing him to growl in pain as he grabbed the exiled prince and slammed him into the nearest wall away from Elsa and Anna. Mathias stepped back and admired his handy work for a few seconds before facing the doorway as if expecting something.
