"Waaa! Watch out people of Remnant! It is I! Ruby! The Destroyer of Worlds!" A ten year old Ruby stated as she jumped out of a shrub.

"Not if I have anything to do about it!" A ten year old (y/n) replied, jumping out of a nearby shrub, donning a red, clearly oversized cloak and wielding a stick.

"Raaa! (y/n)! Today you shall fall before me!"

Ruby jumped out and started chasing (y/n) around the field. However, while running, Ruby suddenly got a burst of speed causing her to trip on the ground.

"O-Oww... It hurts..." Ruby winced as she held her knee in pain.

"W-What happened Rubes?" (y/n) ran in panic.

"I-I dunno..." She replied, very confused by her sudden action.

"Let me see..."

Ruby moved her hand out of her wound but looked away from it as (y/n) took a closer look.

"Ah! It's nothing more than a scratch..." (y/n) sighed with relief as he took his cloak and tied it around Ruby's wound.

"Y-Your cloak?"

"It's fine! Return it tomorrow!" He smiled in reply.

"Can you walk?" He asked as Ruby tried to get up but failed miserably.

"Heh... I... don't think so..."

"Okay then! Here!" He crouched in front of Ruby and gave her a piggyback ride. (y/n) began his walk back to Ruby's house.

Ruby began to fiddle with (y/n)'s hair as she was being carried on the path home.

"(y/n)... this is... the best, y'know?" She said cheekily out of nowhere, scratching the back of her head with a grin.

"Ehh? Where'd that come from?" He replied with a chuckle.

(y/n) carefully raised his arm, ensuring he doesn't drop Ruby, and rolled his hand into a fist. He then points it towards her, asking for a fist bump.

"Best friends forever?" He smiled.

Ruby hugged (y/n) tightly in response, causing him to tilt forward a bit before stomping on the ground to avoid falling.

"R-Ruby! Don't do that out of nowhere! We could've fallen!"

"Ahahah! Sorry! Sorry!" She apologized still hugging (y/n) as the sun set to end another wonderful day.

================================

(y/n) woke up the next day to find himself on a bumpy road in a car.

"Finally awake?" His mom looked at him with a smile.

"Ah- hi mom..." He covered his mouth as he yawned and stretched.

"Where are we going?"

"Mistral, son. We're moving..." His father replied, looking at the road.

"M-MISTRAL?! W-Why didn't you guys wake me up?!"

"Well... you looked peaceful... and very tired..." His mom replied.

"Why so sudden?!"

"Well your father got a promotion and was relocated..." She replied once again.

"W-Wait! Let's go back! Please! I haven't said my goodbyes!"

"We already said goodbye to all the families for you!"

"B-But... Ruby..."

"Oh cheer up son! You'll make more friends!" His father replied.

================================

"Daad! Yaang! I'm going to (y/n)'s house!" Ruby yelled as she quickly dashed out her house.

"Wait! Ruby-"

She wore the cloak, which was obviously still too big for her, and finally arrived at his house before knocking at his door.

"(y/n)!! Let's play!!" She yelled, getting no response.

"Hmm...?" She tilted her head before circling the house and peeked through the windows to see furniture covered in a white cloth.

"D-Dad!" She ran back in panic before Taiyang appeared, out of breath and sweating bullets.

"Jeez... when did you become such a sprinter..." He gasped for air before composing himself.

"Dad? What... happened to (y/n)?"

"He um..." He stopped and thought of a way of saying it without making Ruby sad. "Had to go somewhere... but he'll be back soon!"

"Oh! I'll wait here then!" She said, sitting on the ground.

Taiyang thought for a while before deciding to do something out of hopes that she might forget (y/n) without getting sad.

"Hey uh... wanna go to the amusement park?"

Ruby's eyes lit up like fireflies as she nodded very rapidly.

"Alrighty kiddo, let's go!" He smiled.
