Lavinia de' Medici

Chapter One

I can't believe I just spent all night drinking...

Lorenzo pulling me into one of his many drunken schemes. Of course how could I say no?

The last thing I remember is the sun peeking over the horizon and into the windows. I love feeling that warm country sun grace my skin.

Sandro has been staring at me after Bianca came in making a fuss about us never sleeping. I'm absolutely oblivious to my surroundings, just trying to calm the pain in my head.

"I should really paint you one day." He said thoughtfully

"If you can get her to sit still long enough." Lorenzo butted in

I just laughed in my dazed state.

"For the love of everything please Lavinia drink some water" Bianca exhausted
She brings a chalice to my lips in which I gladly gulp down. Rather unladylike mother would say.

"It's a wonder you can walk, given
all the wine you've been drinking." Father says

When did he get in here?

"What did you guys do to my darling Lavinia?" Father says lightheartedly

"What did we do? She is the bad influence." Poliziano says in disbelief

"Excuse me, I'd say the lot of you would have done this without me if I hadn't of joined!" I laugh

This is my family. I couldn't ask for anything more. The eldest daughter of the famed Medici household. Although I was a bit shut away with my family half the time. I didn't get out much except for church and things as such. Although it's all of my own choice. I just feel myself around family. Why do I need anyone else? I'm content staying home, but also...Restless.

I spent most of my time reading or writing, I love the occasional party my family throws. Dancing and twirling to the music as the night fades away. I really don't have any special skill or involvement in much. I'm ignorant to every political advance and the people involved.

I'm just quite useless.

Everything changes with time.

....

I'm now sobered up in the carriage waiting for the beautiful Florentine gates to peek over the hills.

I watch the trees pass by with time and listen to my brothers speak to each other.

The next thing I know an arrow shoots one of our men. Everything slows to a second equaling a thousand years.

Are we being my attacked?

I jump out our carriage and run to my brothers trying to help. My Mother and sister screaming for me to come back, I grab a sword from the ground and I run to the back of Giuliano's horse attempting to lift myself up.

"You are not coming! Stay back!" Lorenzo yells back at me

"I can't let you two have fun by yourself. I have a sword and I know how to use it. Now let's go get Father's carriage!"

Giuliano smiles that bright smile and pulls me up with ease. They get the horses going and down the path we go.

Feeling the wind on my face and having a tight hold over Giuliano's waist, we chase after his carriage. The smell of pine in the air. The carriage seems to get caught on something and crashes.
