Magma was in school and bored out of his mind. He hated hearing the stories that they read to the young Fire Dragons. They were always about how Naladia came to be or about the Five Ancients. They were sooo incredibly boring. Magma never payed attention in school . . .which is probably why his grades were so bad.
Magma looked at the teacher with his pure orange eyes and heaved a sigh as the teacher droned on about the birth of dragons.

"Thousands of years ago," the teacher continued, "the Five Ancients decided to bring more dragons to Naladia, so they all created one of their own minerals that, when infused with magic, created more dragons of all species. We now call these the Sacred Minerals. Once a year, we have something called 'The Birthing Ceremony' where we go to the hottest volcano where the Fire Dragon Sacred Mineral is placed and we witness the new Fire Dragon being born."

Magma groaned. "We know all of this. We all go there every year and watch it together."

The teacher glared at Magma. "Magma, if you can't respect the school and our traditions, you may go outside and think about what you just said."

Magma got up and bowed. "Gladly." He smiled as he walked out of the cave entrance. He had been waiting for that all day. He walked out of the cave, out of earshot, and spread his light red wings and took flight, wind rushing over his bright red scales.

A few minutes later, Magma arrived at the beach: the end of the volcano fields and the border between Fire Dragon territory and Water Dragon territory.

None of the dragon species minded any of the other dragon species in their territory. It was just rare because all dragon species usually prefered to stay in their own territory.

Magma smiled. He loved skipping school to go on adventures. He held his breath and dove into the water.
The water was cold, though Magma figured it was pretty comfortable for the Water Dragons. He swam for a really long time, coming up once about every three minutes for air. He was having a great time watching the little fish swim in between his wings and toes. He even saw a couple of mermaids. All of a sudden, he heard a girl dragon's voice.

"Get back here!" she shouted. "Bubbles! Come! I'll give you food!" Then the dragon groaned.

Magma watched as the dragon chased around a big sea bass. Then, the dragon looked up at him with her turqoise eyes and gasped. Bubbles the sea bass swam away to a nearby underwater village.

"Um, hi," said the dragon. "What's your name?"

Magma pointed to his mouth and shook his head.

"Oh right," said the dragon. "I forgot. You guys can't breathe or talk underwater." She sighed. "Come on." She started swimming towards the surface, so Magma followed.
