It was finally Friday. We'd only been at school for a few days and the teachers had already piled us with work already but, that's senior year for you. I hadn't told my parents about the detention I had received yet because my dad was still pretty mad about yesterday. As I sat in the car on my way to school I was thinking of all the explaining I'd have to do to my friends, especially Thomas. When we arrived at school I exchanged goodbyes with my mom and left.
"Hey,where did you go yesterday?" Jenifer asked curiously.
"I bet Bianca is just dying to get you to get information for her," I answered dryly.
"No, I was generally worried about you yesterday, you don't ditch classes." She stated.
"Well it doesn't seem that way," I said walking away.
You could say I was in a bad mood but I was tired, tired of being the 'perfect daughter' , the 'perfect sister', the 'perfect student' and the 'perfect friend.' It was my senior year! I needed to do everything I could of done years before,go out to parties, break the rules, get drunk with the girls and still keep up my grades.
I approached the media center where I saw Thomas sitting.
He stood up immediately when he saw me. The girls and I exchanged looks.
"Can I talk to you?" he asked.
I examined his actions and body language.
"Sure," I said.
We walked to the part of the library when nobody was.
"Want to explain where you went yesterday?" He asked.
"No." I stated.
He groaned while touching the to of his head.
"Isabella we were worried you didn't even-" I cut him off.
"I did come back at the end of lunch, you just didn't see me." I corrected him.
I could tell he was trying to hold in his irritation when he looked at me,I know him too well.
He glanced outside avoiding eye contact with me,"Why didn't you come back to us?"
I sighed,"I didn't want to explain anything to you guys yesterday I just needed to relax."
"We all know you were out with Caleb,Samuel and Blake because you all disappeared, they're bad influences on you Isabella," he said sternly.
I scoffed at him shaking my head.
"They're bad influences but the girls aren't,they also do some of the things they do." I argued.
"You're defending them once again why?" He asked quietly.
"They aren't here to defend themselves are they Thomas? You know I hate it when people talk bad about others behind their backs." I slightly raised my voice.
"Where did you go with them yesterday?" He asked trying to figure me out.
Try harder.
"We went out for breakfast," I crossed my arms at his reaction.
"Only?" He asked.
"Yes only," I threw my hands up in the air.
"Something else happened I know you,"he said staring me down.
I shifted uncomfortably avoiding eye contact. I could feel his eyes on me.
"What happened Isabella," he asked sternly.
