I made it home from work just after 6pm, it was snowing really heavy. I loved walking in the snow. The slush crunching underneath my feet and the eerie footprints of shoes in front of me from other pedestrians.

Walking towards my apartment building I saw a slumped figure sitting on the third step leaning against the door. Oh great I thought to myself, it was normal to find drunken people on the doorstep often. Just not this early.

As I got closer to the door I saw the red henley shirt and brown leather jackey, inspecting closer I saw it was Chris.

"Um... hi?" I stepped closer to him to get his attention. His head shot up from his knees and he smiled, "Hey! I was waiting for you-" he paused and frowned, "That sounded less creepy in my head, I swear!" he defended. I chuckled, "Its fine but you're freezing! Can see you shaking" I was too worried to ask how long he had been sitting here. Wasting no more time, I put my key into the keyhole and let us both in through the communal door and take the elevator up to my floor. "After you" I stepped aside and allowed Chris to enter my home first. "You wanna take a shower? I'll get some heating sorted" I told him throwing my keys down on the table. "Thanks" Chris smiled

After warming the place up with a log burning fire, I grabbed a thick fleeced blanket from my closet, I made us both a hot chocolate and just sat down on my couch when Chris appeared from the bathroom in just his underpants, his hair was damp and some hairs hung over his face. I smiled towards him "Here I made us a hot chocolate" I patted the seat next to me, Chris first walked over to the bag he had with him and got something out before joining me, when he sat down... I noticed things moved slightly and I blushed. I've seen it all before but it has been a long time, I cleared my throat and passed him the fleeced blanket as I scooted up the sofa abit to put distance between us. "So is everything okay?" I asked turning to face him, Chris frowned slightly, "My wife and I had a fight and she kinda asked me to leave for tonight" He shrugged, "But its your house?" I questioned. Chris gave a weak smile, "She has Mary and Grace there" I gave a confused look, "Oh they are my step children" he answered my expression, I cleared my throat once again taking it all in, I hadn't really googled him that much over the years, just watched a few shows he was in on TV. "So..you have children?" I took a sip of my hot chocolate waiting for an answer, not really hearing the answer. "Yeah. You didn't know?" he raised an eyebrow, "Well how would I know? I'm not one of those people who knows every little detail about everybody Chris" I snapped back, sighing with frustration. This situation was already giving me a headache.

Chris took a deep breath, "You're right, I'm sorry, but they are the reason I'm still married to her" he smiled weakly. His smile broke me, I couldn't help but smile back at him, "I bet you're a great dad!" I gently put my hand on his shoulder and squeezed it slightly.

After drinking our hot chocolates I took the cups to the kitchen, I heard Chris' footsteps follow close behind. "I uh.. I have something for you" he had one hand behind his back, "Oh?" I raised an eyebrow, he pulled his hand out from behind and passed me a wrapped up little box, "Aww you didn't have to get me anything" I unwrapped the gift and gasped when I saw what it was.

"Chris?!" I looked up to him shocked, "Why?" I asked. Chris smirked, "Because, I owe you. And I wanna stay in touch. You always have been my favorite person and I have a lot of making up to do, I really want to work on our friendship and you deserve nothing but the best" he smiled. He was always the most thoughtful person I had ever met, my mom once told him about a dog she always loved but could never afford to get one, Chris surprised her with one, one christmas, he always thought and thinks about other people first, it was one of the things I loved most about him.

I had tears in my eyes, it was the latest (phone of your choice). Deep down I had a feeling he was planning this from when he asked what phone I previously had and broke. "Chris, thank you. thank you so much" I walked over and pulled him into a hug, I felt his hands on my lower back. Then I remembered he was in his underpants. I pulled away quickly and chuckled shyly, "This is great" I smiled looking down at the box. "Well you're very welcome" he placed his arm around my shoulder, "I got your new number saved already in my phone and I'll put mine in when you get it set up" he smiles down at me, I don't say anything but nod.

After setting the new phone up, I download some apps. As Chris promised, he put his number into my phone.
"I still cant believe you did this for me.." I look to him and smile, "I'm going to repay you for this" I say still looking at him. "Well there is two things I want..." he says looking at his hands, "Go on..." I encourage, "Can I stay the night, with you?" he asks innocently, I nod "sure, you can take my bed and I'll sleep out here" I say standing up, retrieving some blankets. Chris shakes his head and I'm confused, "What?" I hesitantly ask. "Its not what I meant (Y/N)", again feeling confused I frown and hold my arms up to shrug. "I meant this.." he steps closer and places his lips on mine and pushes our bodies together, he put his hands on each side of my face so I can't pull away, I fell into the kiss, mingling my tongue with his. we pull apart and thousands of questions are now swimming through my mind. "I meant can we share a bed?" he asks again placing his forehead against mine. I push him away, and take a few steps back. "I'm sorry no" I hold my hands up to stop him walking any closer. "I will let you stay here, but we are friends Chris you said so yourself, I am NOT going to do that with you, you're married and its wrong!" "You're right I'm sorry to ask, Goodnight" he walks away into the bedroom, I let out a sigh and sit down on the couch holding my face in my hands letting out a groan.

What is going on, I thought to myself pulling the blanket over me.
