The Life Before Now

Discovering The Truth

This was a bad idea in the first place, but I need to find out what else is going on around here - The scientist is no where to be seen - this'll be the perfect time for a proper look around this laboratory. Majority of the rooms are locked, if I want to uncover everything, I'm gonna need to pick a few locks - or all of them, by the looks of it, sucks that there's not a lot of decent lighting and my phone's flashlight doesn't want to work all of a sudden.
I begin my search around her desk, trying to find any information about her - hm, no matter where I look, still can't find her name on anything, doesn't she sign documents or anything? This woman is just making herself look suspicious..

I'll keep on searching, see what I can find - Okay, there's a light at her desk, I'll see if it works. I switch on the light, it works, now I can do a proper scan of her stuff - I sit myself at the desk, flicking through different folders of paperwork, she's rather neat with her work, I'll give her that.
Ooh, what do we have here? Looks like she's been conducting her past life research for 5 years, guessing by the dates on the file, so many words, she doesn't miss any detail does she? It reads
ANIMUS DATABASE: Subject 1
Female - 20 years old - black hair - blue eyes
It's my first time in my new machine - I call it the ANIMUS - this machine allows the user to access any memory that their brain contains, with the assistance from the ANIMUS, you can unlock any memory of your choosing.
My research has been conducted and now - I have tested the machine - it works, thankfully and it has helped me uncover a lot of memories I wasn't even aware of.

Strange.. It ends there - damn it - I wanted to know what she found - perhaps I can search through the database, if I can find the right entry, I'll be able to see what she saw while she was in the Animus. But my other question would be, why didn't she tell me she was the first to use the Animus and I wonder if it glitched on her too. Nevermind that now, I need to look around some more - Wait a second, finally, I found something - Here we go, this could be her name. The scientist's name is Blair - Ah, that's a nice name, but I'm not sure why she hasn't told me yet, maybe she's hiding something. Well, she is being rather suspicious still, I tap the side of my head, still trying to think - Turning off the light at the desk, getting myself up and I begin to wander around.

Stumble across a room that I haven't noticed before, wriggling the handle - it's locked - I smirk, kneeling closer to it, slipping in my lockpick and twists my hand around, unlocking the door and it swings open. I stand, placing the pick into my pocket as I step into the room - looking around, it seems like it could be her sleeping chambers, wonder why I never see her go in here - well, maybe she does, but only when I'm sleeping or out of her sight, what are you hiding Blair?
Flicks on the lightswitch, nothing works again, fine, I'll try using my phone's light - turning it on, finally, something wants to work for me. What do we have here? Carefully walking around the room, this is all of her research - spread across the back wall, photos and printed out data sheets from the Animus - very interesting indeed. I take a few photos on my phone as I step closer to the wall.

I think I need to take this a step further - Reading closely, trying to make sense of all the information presented to me. I've gathered that she's been in the Animus a few times, not only was she trying to make sure that it worked without killing the patient - But she was also conducting, well, concluding her research on past lives, believing in her own research, she wanted to see if she had a past life aswell and according to all this data - It looks like she did..
My question now is, who was she in her past life? Or what was she? Leaving the room, locking it and I move on to another room along the hallway, feeling the handle, not locked - makes it easier for me to snoop - I chuckle to myself, opening the door and I step in carefully, looking around me. Hm, this seems to be the main database for the Animus - Jeez, this machine has a huge database.. 

All these lights, they're quite satisfying to look at, so bright - so blue - my favourite shade of blue actually - shakes my head. Right, back to snooping, no not snooping, conducting my own research - Who is Blair? Yeah, that's my excuse, she's a scientist, researching past lives and hiding a lot of additional information - Suspicion central - This is literally screaming at me to look into it - Is my reason justified? Maybe? But that doesn't matter right now.
Let me see if I can try to dare one say, hack into the system? More like just press a few buttons and hope for the best. Typing down the dates I remember seeing on the paperwork back at Blair's office, if I remember correctly, the date was April 21st 2017 - The Animus remembers the date, attempting to retrieve the data.
ANIMUS DATABASE LOADING... SEARCH FAIL.. DATA REMOVED..

Data removed?! I begin to get frustrated - why is she removing all evidence of her time in the Animus? It isn't making any sense. I stand there for a short moment, trying to think of another approach, if she deleted the electonic files, maybe she kept the paper data, but where would she put it - Perhaps she has a room filled with all the data, I'll just have to find it.
Leaving the database room, searching around for any room that might have the paper version of all the data she has collected, wait a second, that room at the end of the hallway, maybe that could be it. I quickly head towards the room, of course, it's locked - never fear, the lockpicker is here - no, never say that again. Rolling my eyes at myself, unlocking the room and I step in, closing the door behind me, then locking it - I feel like I'll be in here for a while..

Lights flicker along the halls of the room, it's a lot bigger than I thought it would be - Well, I suppose it should be considering she keeps ALL of the paper data she collects. Now, let me think, I should just start at the beginning and work my way through - I start my long search to discover the truth behind this laboratory and the truth about Blair, no matter what happens, I will find out what is happening around here..
Walking down each section of the room, looking through as many files as I can, all this information could drive someone crazy, my head is already starting to hurt from the reading alone, nevermind the actual information.. It feels like I've been in here for hours, I can't give up now, I need to know what happened when she was in the Animus..

All hope seemed lost, I eventually find the file I was searching for this whole time - She kept the paper trail of her time in the Animus - Let's see what she discovered, reading through the things I've already seen, going straight into the deleted parts..
ANIMUS ANALOG DATA ENTRY 21/04/2017
All these memories, it feels like a dream - I know all my research has been noticed at truth statements of facts, but I never thought that I would also have a past life - The life I had, it was filled with so many different emotions, my past self meets this wolf looking boy, instantly, she is drawn to him, I suppose that's a good thing, he seemed like a nice young wolf - I can't quite remember what happened after their first meeting, but the ANIMUS showed me 10 years later into the memories, she is reunited with him, they're both fully grown adults. The way he holds her, the way they just feel so safe around each other, it's such an amazing bond they had..

I stop reading, putting the file back on the shelf, taking a step back. I need to see one thing before I comfront her - I run out of the room, not even bothering to lock the door, going straight into the Animus and I start it up.
ANIMUS LOADING.. SEARCHING MEMORIES.. FINAL MOMENTS..
The final moments of Zerith and Luna - Their last night together was magical.. Their bond was complete, they were mated for life, you'd think it would end there - such a peaceful night..
Leading into the morning of the next day, they're just sitting, talking about the wonderfuly night they had together - The moment was cut short.. Zerith hears a noise in the distance, so he gets up to investigate what the noise might be, he sees an arrow flying towards him, lodging itself into his chest, sending him to the ground in pain.. I feel this pain in my chest.. Luna rushes over to him.. Trying to help him.. His last words.. "I will.. Find you again.. My love.."

The Animus shuts down, I sit myself up, wiping my eyes - It's her.. Blair is Luna.. That might explain why she was so interested when I emailed her about her research on past lives.. When she tested me, she knew it was me right away.. But I don't understand why she kept it from me - She may have wanted to keep going with the research so she could be certain.. But still...
I need to speak to her about this..
