Double trouble

Elena and Chris talked privately at the hospital before Emily was released "Are we really ready for twins? I hear so many stories about double trouble for parents. I have no idea how we are going to handle it." Chris stroked her hair and shoulder "Same way we handle anything. One day at a time. Focus on me baby, I will help you through this." Elena was so shocked that they were actually getting two babies and not one. Would she fail since there was going to be an extra child? Would she put it all on Chris? She was scared to death.

His strong arms made their way around her waist and held her tight "Baby, I'm here! We will both be fine. Our babies will be fine. You are going to be an amazing mom to both of them." Elena felt a little relief knowing Chris could handle her anxiety over anything. Including this. She thanked him & gave him a quick kiss "I love you Christopher Robert Evans!"

He kissed her back sweetly and exclaimed "I love you too Elena Marie Evans!" Her eyes locked with his and her smile evident again. That spark of joy was back in his wife.

Emily called them in the room and asked "Are you okay now?" Elena answered her with a smile and Chris told her they were fine. They would be completely ready soon enough to welcome the twins into the world.

Elena looked at her "Do we know if its a boy and girl or two of either?" Emily explained it was one of each which led Chris to ask what her name ideas were.

Elena told him "For a girl I love Bella and for a boy, half after his daddy and half after one of his favorite Disney characters." Chris knew she meant Christopher Robin and smiled a proud grin.

He told her "I love those. What would Bella's middle name be? Marie like her mom?" Elena smiled and let him know he was right. That is what she was thinking Bella Marie Evans and Christopher Robin Evans. Elena told him "By the way, you know her name is from Aristocats right?" Chris nodded and kissed her cheek.

Emily sat up in her bed and laughed "You two are definitely Disney fanatics. Both of your kids are going to be named after Disney characters. Your dog is named after a Disney character. I imagine if you got another dog you'd name it after one too." Elena said "Depending on the breed, I may go with Marvel not Disney."

Chris realized his wife wanted a second dog and suggested checking the shelter where he got Dodger from in the first place. Elena said "I would love to. When should we go? As soon as Emily can go home?"

Hours later, Emily was released from her stay in the hospital and Chris drove Elena to the shelter. She noticed a bunch of dogs that needed a home but one in particular in extra need of love.

Elena pointed out "Um, he could be Dodger's double. They look so identical." Chris smiled as he saw the dog and captured how similar he did look to Dodger. He knew it was the one. This dog gave him the same look Dodger did when he adopted him. He then asked "So babe, what do we name this one?"

Elena smiled and called out "Chance." The dog listened to her voice and came wagging his tail to the gate. Chris liked naming him after a dog from Homeward Bound and said "I like it! I think he does too!" They told the lady at the shelter "We want him. Today!"

She got him out of the cage and handed Elena papers to sign to make it official. Elena had an extra leash in Chris' car as well as a new collar just in case they found one right away. She put it on his neck comfortably and said "You are coming home with us Chance! You will have a friend named Dodger."

He excitedly jumped into the back seat of Chris' car lined with a blanket and they drove home. Knowing the dogs were so similar, Chris knew he did not need a new type of food. He would just need bigger bags of what he normally got. As soon as they pulled up, Dodger met Chance and they were like long lost brothers. Chris posted a video on twitter of the two playing and getting along so well. Elena commented right away "I swear is Chance is secretly related to Dodger. I want to find out."

This led Chris to get a swab of doggy DNA to find out. After sending it in Elena told him "Wouldn't it be crazy if they really were related? Sometimes in a litter there are puppies that end up identical." Chris waited for news on the dogs as well as news from Emily on the twins.

He got a phone call a few weeks later "It's time. They can't stop it." He rushed Elena to the hospital to watch his babies come into the world. While there, he got an email alert saying the results were on the way.

As soon as Christopher and Bella were born, they held them both...taking turns, swapping and each of them holding both at once.

Upon going home, he noticed an envelope and Elena ripped it open to see it read "99.8% sibling match." Chris was shocked "What are the odds that years after I get one dog, I also get his brother?" Elena kissed him "I don't know but I'm glad he has one. You never knew his origin but now we know he has family.

Bella laid there on the floor and Chance curled up next to her Dodger curled up next to Christopher. Chris took a video to post and captioned it "My babies and my two dogs! Life is great!" Elena added herself to his video and tagged herself "And the love of your life!"
