Chapter 4

"Why did you remarry?" I ( Allison) had asked father later. And when he didn't respond for a long time, I asked the question again, in a more demanding manner. He still remained silent.

Then he sighed deeply and looked apologetic.
But after he told his tragic love story, I was the one who was silent.

"Roselyn was beautiful," he began and I saw the kindness in his eyes as he spoke of her,"Your mother, her name was Roselyn, everyone called her Rose. I loved her very much...  Or so I thought."

He thought.

"It was during her 6th month of pregnancy that she called over Ruth. But right after a week or so she was kept in care and was allowed to meet limited people. I never really got to see her because of her intensive care as well as my daily work."

"But Ruth... She was always with me. We would walk together in the evenings. We would talk and laugh whenever we got free time. By her eighth month, we got really close and right before Rose's ninth month started... We got together."

I remained silent after the story. I had a lot of feelings inside me, but the feeling I had the most in me was disgust. How could he 'get together' with another woman when his wife was in her ninth month of pregnancy?

"What would you have done if she hadn't died?" I somehow asked despite the disgust in me. His answer only added more to the disgust I held for him.

"I would have most likely cheated on her." He said without the least bit of doubt in his voice.

I stormed out of the room and didn't look back.

When I was around seven, a lot of things took place: my visits to Maréregno were stopped, my visits to my kingdom were stopped, my studies got tougher and I met Minho.

But I think what I clearly remember would be the fact that one day when I was roaming the streets of Bellashier before I was imprisoned in the castle; I had heard a lady look at a man, probably her husband, and say,"Our king... I wonder when he will tell his daughter of his horrible deeds. And I wonder how she will react. I just hope she doesn't follow in his footsteps."

The man looked at her and said, "That was a very low thing he did... How did he even have the courage to do it?" He looked bewildered as if that question shook him to his core.

I didn't understand him back then.
Now I clearly do.

It was late evening. My paperwork was done and I sat by the windowsill, wondering how things became like this: how the father I once looked up to had done such horrible deeds- he had almost cheated on his wife.

Then a wild question rose to her mind, had he killed his wife?

No,no,no,no,no! He wasn't that bad a man! Yes, he may have bad morals and ethics but he clearly wasn't that low to kill his own wife? Or was he?

My thoughts are interrupted by a knock on my door.  I walk slowly and open it carefully, peeping to see who it is. As soon as I see him I open the door wide.

And there he stood: dark brown rough hair, green eyes, caramel skin in his usual grey shirt, black pants and shoes . With a smirk on his face.

Minho.
Minho Andrew Karchi.

I pull him in by his right arm, causing his smirk to disappear.

"Princess," he says in a very playful and sweet tone,"pray, why have you pulled me into your room?" His smirk is back.

"Minho, I'm getting married." I tell him and his expression turns dull.
_______________________________
Minho and I have never had the relationship of lovers. He clearly had no interest in me though he liked to tease me and whisper sweet nothings into my ear and make me blush, I just looked at him as a brother I never had.

Besides, Minho's type was... Different.

"I heard. I was with the king right before I came to meet you." He tells me.

"Ruth is his second wife." I state again. "Everybody in the kingdom except for you knows it. Now you do too." He says.

"Minho, I want you to accompany me to Maréregno along with Zoya. You will come as my bodyguard- which is your official position. Understood?"

"Yes, Princess!" He says with a strong voice.

"Shall we drop the formal act already?" I say and smile a little. "Thank goodness Alice!" He sighs and sits by the windowsill, my previous seat. We chat the night away and I fill him in on everything- from my birthday to my father's tragic love story.

As soon as I mention my birthday, he says,"Oh, wait!" And takes something out if his pocket.

A little box.

I open it to see two beautiful earrings. "Minho!" I gasp,"These are beautiful!"
"Gramma picked them out." He grins.

And his eyes widen in which as he realises,"Alice I better go, my old man must be looking for me, I haven't met him since I came back, so.."

Ah, I see,"Oh sure, goodnight."

He leaves and I sleep off with all the gossip lifted off me. It feels great to have someone you can tell everything to!

I wonder if they'll let me have Minho as my bodyguard after I get married.
I drift off to sleep slowly and steadily.

The next three weeks pass in the blink of an eye.

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

Hey guys! I'm so sorry for not uploading since so long! I had a lot of work to do and I was travelling.

Also I really hope I was able to give off 'Minho and Allison are more or less siblings' vibe. Please don't ship them. And I know the new description of the story makes it sound like it's a love triangle but it's really not. I'll clear everything once we meet the princes.

Thank so so very much for reading my story, it's a real great pleasure. Thank you!

Don't forget to comment, vote and share. Also if there is anything that you would like me to add specifically like more details and stuff, please let me know. Don't be a silent reader.

Love you guys to Neptune and back!
