Thoughts

Exhausted, you decide to occupy one of the pods' rooms used during exterior missions. The night went fast, but for you it was excruciatingly long as your mind kept reminiscing back to the horrible thoughts of your loved ones dying. It was December 2093, day 06 since your stasis awakening for your mission to follow the map to LV-223. Hoping to retrace humanity's forerunners, the "Engineers" and thinking it as the species' residence on a planet, your crew was however met with the remains of an extinct species that tried to recreate an iridescent and virulent liquid alleged to be the "Blood of their Lord". Of course, this which allowed them to create life, back fired and took theirs. This showed how much they were greedy to possess the ability to create life like how humans have, but inflicted their mother land using this gift with terrible overpopulation consequences which led to her destruction. When inspecting the ship, you had discovered that it wasn't a ship, but the structure of a military base. David had found some stone cylinders containing the so called dangerous substance including the decapitated corpse of a large humanoid alien identified as an Engineer. At first, everything was confusing as nothing made sense. Why did they want to kill you all using this dark infectious substance? Why did they worship a strange skeletal creature different to their own? Why did they not reproduce sexually or asexually? Why did this advanced species controvert life concepts? Their DNA matched those of a human, but how could this species which had developed 3D holographic star maps of the universe, be so easily subdued by a creation which had taken them off guard. All these questions and all these confusing information could only be answered by one person...an Engineer. Meeting a Engineer was now the least thing you wanted to do. You'd prefer death instead of being infected. Clamping your mouth shut, you immediately rose from your bed and rushed to the restroom to vomit. Your stomach had given out so much food. You were disgusted by the smell and after taste of it. "Do you need to visit the pod's medic bay Ms. (Y/n)?" asked David from behind. Not even glancing, you nodded slightly. "Just give me a minute. My head hurts a bit." You inhaled and tried to stand, but lost balance and felt two sturdy arms wrap around your shoulders. Limp in his arms your head kept spinning. David swiped you into his arms and carried you out to the medic bay where you were placed onto the examination table. "Just hold still, I'll have to make a full body scan to check whether you're termed ill" said David.  He strangely caressed his thumb over your cheek for a split second, and then gave you a small tablet to rid you of your headache. Closing your eyes, a loud thumb came from outside the pod. Internally moved and on guard from your thoughts of the Engineer consumed your mind. David was about to walk out until you stopped him. You feared being left alone. "Please don't leave" you said. You saw something stir in his eyes before complying. "As you wish Ms.(Y/n)." Suddenly another thumbing sound came from outside. You grasped David's hands tightly. Your heart bet ready to jump out. "Identify exterior movements" David said. The pod system responded "Pod system has detected a Lurgoil – a mammal identified as part raccoon and platypus. Common on various planets due to its ability to adapt to various ecosystems. It is perceived to be nibbling on nearby trees for their dome construction." Relieved, you release a sigh and loosened your grip on David's hand, but his did not let go. Your moves were obstructed.
