When the girls were three months old they had all three girls with them at Bucky's grandma's Christmas dinner. They were finishing up with the dinner portion of the day they started to pass out gifts. Aspen was feeding Hayley Bucky had Hadley he was changing her diaper cause she was getting fussy. "Oh baby girl you must be hungry let me see if mama packed any other breast milk bags for you baby." he said as he started go through her diaper bag he found two empty bottles but no milk bags.
He put everything back in a diaper bag he picked up Hadley and walked over to Aspen. "Baby um got milk.." he said
"What are you talking about" she said as she burped Hayley.
"Natalie didn't give me any other milk bags when she dropped her off this morning all that is in her diaper bag is two empty bottles extra clothes and diapers and wipes. No breast milk." he said
"um I.." she said as Hadley continued to cry.
"Here god help me she doesn't get mad at me." she said as she hands him Hayley.
She started to situate herself to feed Hadley on the other side. "Burp her." she said as she pointed to Hayley.
She pulled out her other breast and she got her to latch she started suckle. "Is she eating.." he said
"Yeah.." she said
Winnie came over to them "Is everything okay? Why are you feeding Hadley?' she said
"Natalie didn't give me any milk for her like at all. What was I suppose to do mom." he said
"It's fine as long as she's eating." Winnie said
"Oh yeah she is.. she is guzzling." she said
That night once they got all three girls down. Aspen was laying her head on his lap "thank god for your boobs today.." he said
"Shut up.. did you text Natalie?" she said
"Yeah she said that her pump broke and that she didn't think you would mind." he said
"mm. okay then that would have been nice to know and I could of brought some that we keep in the freezer." she said
"Yeah I said that too." he said then he said "Now .. I have to give you my Christmas present." he said
"Buck.. you gave me a present this morning in bed that's what you said." she said
He pulled something off their Christmas tree and walked over to her. He pulled her up off the couch "James..' she whispered
"Aspen Marie I love you I have loved you since we were 14 years old when we made our promise. I had hoped that it was going to be you and I together. But then you started to like Mason and my heart broke so I tried to move on. In return fell for Natalie but some where in the back of my mind it didn't feel right. But when I was with you sleeping next to you at our sleepovers that felt right I felt complete. When you went away for college I was so desperately waiting for you to call me to say you were coming home that you didn't want to be close to your mom or Mason anymore. But then you got engaged to Mason and I love the guy like my own brother but I was jealous. And when you lost him I had hoped that Natalie was going to stay behind so I could tell you how I feel but she came with us and I didn't have very long moments alone with you. The night before my wedding I may not remember how we ended up in bed and maybe that's a good thing but being the one to give you pleassure everything about you and I is perfect. Our daughters are gorgeous just like you. You accept Hadley like your own and that I couldn't ask for anything better baby. So I' want to make one last promise fulfilled that we made at 8 years old. And that's this ... marry me Aspen Marie?' he said

"James Buchanan Barnes..oh my god yes.. holy crap that is gorgeous." she said then kissed him after he put it on. He laid her on the couch as they stripped clothes.
"So glad you got birth control baby." he said as he pushed into her.
They fell asleep after they finished on the couch. The next morning they announced their engagement. They spent the day with the babies as they were looking at houses in Athens as Bucky wanted to wait to finish out the school year at their old high school before they moved. So Aspen was the only one driving back and forth for school.
