Chapter 10 (The Inky Blackness Continues)

Matt having been sucked into the abyss first has spent the longest period of time in the darkness with his thoughts and emotions running wild. Images went in and out of his mind such that he had never experienced before and yet they were very familiar. As suddenly as Matt was sucked into the abyss his exit was just as abrupt. Matt found himself laying on his back staring at the blue sky. Only one thought occurred and that was: "Where am I and what time period is this?" Matt's senses were telling him that he was in a long-ago period, a time of witches and warlocks and unexplained creatures. While Matt was traveling through the abyss, he had a feeling that he was not alone and the familiar sense of friendship was very strong. While Matt was lying on the ground he heard a noise from the tall grass very close to him. Matt lay very still while collecting his thoughts and suddenly the grass parted and Henry's face appeared. Both stared at each other for a long time. Henry looked at Matt and asked: "Where the heck are we?" Matt heard the rushing water of a river nearby and suggested to Henry that they move to the water as he was very parched from his journey. They picked themselves up and moved in the direction of the sound of the river.

Laurine was unsure of time and space as she was still traveling through the inky blackness of the abyss; suddenly she felt something brush against her. She reached out and felt the warmth of a hand and she grabbed it. Not knowing who or what she hung on to the hand in hopes that it was friendly. From the direction of the hand, Laurine heard a soft, very familiar voice say "How are you my friend it has been a long time." Laurine knew this soft/kind voice to be that of her dear friend, Lucile. Laurine summoned up from the depths of her soul a very weak voice, "Is that really you Lucile?" the reply back from Lucile was in connection with the tattoo on Laurine's arm. "Do you still have that ugly ink spot on your arm?" "I knew right then it was Lucile." My heart was racing with excitement, wonder, and anticipation..... We floated through timeless black space for what seemed an eternity when suddenly we were cast out into the bright sunlight of a nether world. Where were we, what time was it, what year was it and how did Lucile find me.....so many unanswered questions......

Chapter 11 (The Chance Of Lucile)

The chance of Lucile brushing against me in that awful blackness was luck beyond luck and my good fortune; however, it also raised many new questions. Why now, why there, how? Lucile and I have not been in contact for a very long time. How did she know where I was I didn't even know where I was. Lucile came to me and put her hand on my arm and quickly drew it back again commenting; "Wow, your arm is very hot?" She had put her hand on the area of the tattoo and it was then that I gave her a short history leading up to now. I also told her that the pain and heat in my arm started when I first read the article. Lucile remained calm and unfettered, that is what I loved about her, and she has always been a stabling factor in my life when I most needed it. Before I could even ask the question Lucile was talking and telling me what had happened to bring us together. Lucile stated that she had been walking past the huge rock in the center of town and when she was about 15-20 feet past the rock she heard a voice, very faint and distant and yet familiar. She said that she had stopped and turned and at the very instant she was facing the rock she blacked out and when she awoke again she was in a dark, blackness that was unbelievably thick almost like ink. Lucile stated that she had been in this black soup for what seemed ages until she chanced upon me, what good fortune for both of us. Lucile continued to explain that for her to be downtown and in this place near the rock was even stranger as she explained it; she had never been there before and was drawn there by a deep feeling, and I commented; "As was I". Lucile looked at me, took both of my hands, squeezed them tightly leaned forward and kissed my forehead saying, "Let us see where this adventure takes us, my friend"......
