Harrys POV

Class passes by uneventfully slow after the grand exit Memphis made not even twenty minutes into my first school day. I have to physically restrain myself from going after her and making sure she doesn't get in trouble.

She was just sticking up for me after I lashed out at the teacher, not being able to control myself after she tried to get me to out my business in a classroom full of people I don't know. I'm not sure why shes defended me the way she did, but I'm thankful.

The two annoying girls in front of me don't try to talk to me again, and while I'm thankful, I'm also confused. The blonde girl wasn't taking no for an answer when she was coming on to me earlier, and no matter how many hints I sent her way that I wasn't interested, she just wasn't getting it.

When the bell rings dismissing us to our next class, I'm not surprised to see Memphis's brother come over to my desk as I'm putting away my things.

"Can I help you?" I ask, not wanting to come off as a dick, but I'm not gonna be pushed over by this guy either. Even if he is the brother of the girl I'm practically obsessing over.

"You and my sister got something going on that I need to know about?"

"I've never even spoke to your sister." Unfortunately, that was true. Though I had sudden plans in mind to change it.

He looks towards the door and shakes his head. "Just never seen her stick up for someone, that wasn't blood, like that."

I shrug my shoulders, not knowing what to say. "I was just shocked as you are. Must have been the subject, she seemed to know about it."

"Maybe." He says, and then turns away to start walking out the door.

"Just to let you know," I start, and look him dead in the eye when he turns around. "I have every intention of talking to your sister and asking her out."

He doesn't say anything at first, and then he laughs.

"Alright, good luck with that." He says as good naturedly as possible, like he's not even upset that I just said I was asking his sister out. After what Gray told me this morning I assumed he'd be pissed off.

    "Why do I need luck?"

He look makes it seem like its the most obvious answer in the world. "Your names Harry. And your the sheriff's son." And with that parting statement, he walks out of the classroom, leaving me confused as hell.

Why would my name being Harry matter?

I'm not even looking for her, I swear I'm not, but it's like I knew I was close to her. Almost like I could smell her perfume and the cinnamon on her tongue. I'm running late to my next class, unable to find the room when I hear mumbled voices coming from behind the walls. I peek in a door that has a small window cut into the wood, and I can see Memphis sitting in a chair, with an older man sitting next to her. I don't realize its the principal until I see his name tag.

Principal Sanders

She has her legs crossed and listening to what he's saying, but she has a look of discomfort on her face. She won't keep eye contact with him for long, and whatever answers shes giving him are only a couple of words.

When I see him place his hand on her leg, and rub his thumb up and down, I don't hesitate when I start pushing the door open.

"You ready Memphis?" I ask, as if we have somewhere to be.
