The sun had set on Pennsylvania Ave. as Raven and Mara led the team to the back of the White House. Peter and Kurt, their best teleporter, checked the grounds as the team gathered to catch their breath. Peter appeared moments before Kurt, at Mara's side.

She gave him a sideways glance, and took his hand discreetly. Smiling down at her, he rubbed small circles over her palm as Raven gave the final briefing.

"Okay guys, there are about fifty mutants in there. They have every power imaginable. We're going to go in two teams, one in the back and one in the west wing. We need our speedster and teleporters to listen to our mind readers, they'll tell you who needs to go down immediately. They didn't get control of the capitol just by brute force. These people are the most dangerous. So, be extremely careful! We can't all be next to Mara to get put back together. Now, let's get our heads in it, and let's go. Peter, Kurt, get everyone over the fence, and we will head in."

Peter immediately lifted Mara into his arms, and sped her up and over the fence. He and Kurt got in a quick rhythm and got everyone over in a matter of seconds.

Mara and Raven got them formed into their groups, and they ran through the dark towards their designated rendezvous points.

Peter ran at Mara's side and looked down towards her, chuckling. He was loving that he was fighting alongside her. Sensing his gaze, she grabbed his arm for a moment, and smiled without looking at him. He scoffed, and grabbed her hand. They ran hand in hand all the way to the large back windows. The second team disappeared into the night, Raven and Kurt leading them.

Mara led her team to a back door, and stopped. She listened for a moment, but heard nothing but the wind whistling through the trees. She glanced at Jean, and waved her to the front.

Jean crawled to her side, and sat. She took a long, calming breath. She placed her fingers to her temples, and her eyes glazed over. With a small gasp, her focus changed.

"Okay, there are at least five mutants in this wing. None of their powers are for detecting, so we're safe there. There is a fire wielder. She can incinerate all of us in a single blast of fire, it's that hot. She needs to go first, she's the only female on this floor. The others can be taken down while you deal with her, they're all low level pawns, probably there just for shear numbers. Raven was right about there being more dangerous mutants though. The upper levels have mutants like poison barb throwers, telekinetics, an indestructible man, a changeling that at this moment is a gigantic bear... There, right in the middle of it all, a group of humans. I think the president and the vice president are both there. Other higher ups as well. We need to get in there now, someone that seems to be the leader is making threats. Wow, he's something else entirely. He controls time, and it seems he can push it back as far as a month, more if he keeps setting it back. So far he's not had any physical repercussions. He could do it indefinitely. We need to take him out as quickly as possible. Does that help?"

Mara nodded once, whispering "Yeah, thanks. Let's get going, Peter, get the human flame thrower under control, and we'll take care of the rest."

Peter nodded, gave Mara a concerned look, and left, but not before leaving a tickle on her cheek from an unseen kiss. She smiled at him for a moment, and he disappeared before her eyes. Mara took a quick breath, pulling her firearm from its holster. She stood, and gestured for the group to move in. She ran to the door that Peter had left slightly open, and ran into the fight. The fire breather wasn't down yet, she was screaming and trying to get free from under a pile of rubble. Peter grabbed a large vase, and cracked it over her head, twice. She fell still, a puff of smoke rising from her mouth. Peter checked for a pulse, and sighed, before joining the others. They quickly took down the remaining mutants. Peter ran ahead, and cleared out the rest of the floor. Team two met up with him at the main stairwell.
