---One Year Later---
Cries could be heard over the baby monitor laying on Mara's side of the bed. Slowly she rolled over, and moaned as she tried to sit up. A gentle hand on her shoulder stopped her from getting out of bed.
"No, it's okay Mara, I've got her this time. You lay back down." Peter whispered, as he stood.
Mara mumbled a thanks, and fell back into her pillow, asleep again before Peter had left the room.
Peter made his way to the nursery in the darkness, slowly finding his way to Baby Natalie still crying in her crib. As he pulled her up into his arms, he held her close, checking to make sure she was clean. When he was certain she was, he knew what she wanted.
Silently, he sped to the living room, and flicked on the radio, which was playing quiet rock music. He grinned as Natalie almost instantaneously calmed down. Watching her, he could see her wide eyes slowly shut as he danced gently to the rhythm.
"So, this is how you get her back to sleep so quickly." Mara whispered as she watched them from the doorway. "You've been holding out on me."
Peter's eyes shot up. She had snuck up on him. That was usually his job. Smiling softly, he slowly made his way towards her. He reached his hand out to her, and pulled her to his chest. Before resuming his slow movements, he gave her a gentle kiss on the head.
Following Peter, she began to dance with them. Mara laid her head down, and watched their daughter sleep as she hummed to the music. She had been in love with that baby the moment she had been born. There would never be anything she wouldn't do for her, or Peter.
Their life had been so strange. It felt like a never ending uphill battle, for all mutants. Though, they knew, the world was changing. Mutants were now being seen for what they truly were, heroes. Some of their fellow mutants still tried to stir up trouble, but they would be there to stop them. For their child, they would do anything to ensure her safety. God have mercy on anyone who tried to stand in the way of that.

أدب الهواةThe speedster still has much to learn about life... and love in this story that follows a chaotic fight for mutant and humankind. The story is post X-Men: Apocalypse. I have ignored Dark Phoenix, not because I dislike it, it just didn't fit my story...
