CHAPTER TWO

I tapped cherry on the shoulder and she swung around, face full of anger. "What the hell do you want--" her emotion changed throughout her sentence as she realised who had tapped her. "ROSE I HAVENT SEEN YOU IN AGES GIVE ME A HUG YOU BITCH." She grinned massively at me and leaned up so she could wrap her arms around my neck. I laughed at her sudden mood swing and gave her a big bear hug in return. "Cherry it's been a day, I saw you yesterday you idiot." she glared at me and pointed her fingers in my face "leave me alone it's felt like a millennium okay." she stuck out her tongue at me and I chuckled again.

Cherry Winters is my best friend, and ever since reception we've been inseparable. She's five foot exactly and she's as heavy as a bag full of feathers. Her extremely bright hair is as red as a cherry (hence her name) and goes to about her hips, and her eyes are the prettiest green I have ever seen, and I'm not even exaggerating. They're like turquoise, and everyone always seems to get lost in them, that is until she snaps at them with a rude remark or a punch to the face. I think the reason why I get along with her so well, is because our personalities and emotions are in perfect harmony, when she's sad, I'm sad, when I'm happy, she's happy. You never see us with different emotions, we're usually always in the same mood and know when to leave the other one alone.

Cherry and Raven are friends, but they aren't as close as cherry and I are. Raven has loads of friends so she doesn't tend to hang out with me at break or lunch, but in the classes we have together we're like the three musketeers. Just like me and Raven, Cherry is one of the leaders at the school too. No one and I mean NO ONE wants to get on the wrong side of her, because she can be the scariest bitch ever once she's pissed off. The only person she's actually always nice to is me, because she knows I'll just throw a punch back at her too. Raven on the other hand secretly controls people, she pretends to be friends with everyone and then she slowly twists things to go her way because everyone thinks she's the best. It's pretty funny really how everyone is pulled towards her but are scared shitless of me and cherry.

"So, have you met the new science teacher?" I asked her as we sat on our bench outside with our slices of pizza. "No, but I have science next lesson so I'll meet him then. I heard he's hot, is that true?" she laughed at me when I turned my nose up at the description. I shivered in disgust but couldn't keep my mind from travelling back to how good it felt when he was near my face earlier. "No. he's an ass. I thought teachers weren't allowed to have piercings and tattoos anyway?" I questioned with annoyance in my tone. I don't think seventeen year olds are allowed to have tattoos but you didn't follow the rules either, did you?" she looked at my wrist where she knew my tattoo was, hidden underneath my sleeve. "True, true." I laughed with her and lifted the material up so we could look at it.

The tattoo was a small silhouette of a black wolf, howling up towards the full moon. Pretty stars surrounded the moon so it looked like the night sky. "It's pretty awesome though, isn't it?" she smiled as I said this and slowly traced it with her fingers. "Yeah, it's amazing." I giggled and traced the wolf as I spoke, I don't know why but I've always been fascinated by wolves. There's something so intriguing about how independent but so together they all are. They can fight for themselves but they also fight for each other." I covered up my wrist when I saw raven walking towards us. Every time I even mention wolves Raven goes mental at me, saying she hates them and that they don't look after each other by choice but only because they are born in to it, that they're vile beings by nature. I don't understand why she hates them so much, they're beautiful creatures to me. however if she ever found out about my tattoo I'm pretty sure everyone would finally see the terrifying personality that she's hidden for so long bubble to the surface.

"ROOOOOSE."

"What are you doing here sis? You never hang with us at lunch, you're usually with your 'besties' in the cafeteria", my nose crinkled at the word besties and she found it hilarious.

"I wanted to talk to you about earlier, the way you just gave up so easily!"

"What? Rose you never let anyone tell you what to do! Are you okay? Are you ill? RAVEN I THINK THERES SOMETHING WRONG WITH HER" cherry had the back of her hand on my forehead, and then she shook me by the shoulders. "Get off of me you weirdo. I just didn't feel like arguing today, I've got a headache."

"Yep there's something wrong with her." her hand was about to go to my forehead again before I swatted it away angrily. "Leave me alone, I'm fine. I'm just tired and his voice was annoying me."

Lies. Lies. Lies.

How could I tell them what he said to me? That would make me look weak and I am not freaking weak. I'll just lie, I'm good at that. "So leave me alone before I chop your hand off with my fingernails." Cherry backed away slightly, raising her hands up in defence, "I was only worried, no need to get all violent with me." she chuckled nervously as she saw my anger start to flare up.

She looked around for something in her bag, ripped open a chocolate bar and then shoved a piece in to my mouth. "Thanks boo." I winked at her and she rolled her eyes at me. "Don't call me boo, it's weird."

"You're weird."

"You're a peanut."

"Well you're a peanut head."

"Well I happen to like peanuts so I'm perfectly fine peanut."

"Go suck on a penis shaped lollipop and choke."

"That created a lovely picture in my head thank you for that peanut."

"Guys sorry to interrupt your strange ass conversation, but I also need to give rose a note that Mr brooks told me to. he would have given it to you his self but you kind of stormed out of class pretty quick and he and I quote "couldn't be arsed to chase after you, so he got your lovely twin sister to do it for him." so here, your welcome." she handed me a folded up sticky note, and I frowned. "There's no way he called you lovely I'm not that idiotic Raven."

"Okay maybe he didn't call me lovely but I could tell he was edging on a compliment when I said yes to the job."

"Sure" I said sarcastically as I raised an eyebrow at her.

"Okay, he just shoved the note in to my hand and told me to give it to you because he couldn't be arsed."

"That's more like it." I unfolded the note and snorted at what was written on it.

It would be awfully sad if you tried to skip out, *ahem* forget about our little detention, so don't worry I'll make sure I'm waiting outside your last lesson to give you a friendly reminder.

"Dammit he saw through my plan."

"Let me see let me see!" cherry grabbed the note and snorted too at what was written. "He's known you what, a couple of hours? And he's already looked to see what lessons you have so that you have to spend more time with him? That is one dedicated 'teacher' you have there rose." she put up air quotes with her fingers. "And what are you insinuating cherry?" I raised my eyebrows up at her and she wiggled hers at me. "You know exactly what I'm insinuating rose." I rolled my eyes at her and she poked her tongue out at me.

Some dude looked at her funny, so she got up, chased him, jumped on him and pinned him down on to the floor. They were just close enough for me to see their interaction, but I wasn't close enough to actually hear their conversation. I was deadly shocked to see a bright red blush appearing on to her face at what he had said to her.

From what I could see, the guy had this kind of cute nerdy look thing going on, he was pretty hot to be honest. He had black rimmed glasses and extremely adorable, fluffy looking hair. He was smiling at her and she had a little frown and pout on her face. She sprung up from the floor and kind of waved a goodbye at me, then ran off in to the school without a glance back. "The heck? When does cherry ever blush?" I looked puzzled at Raven.

"never." the guy got up from the ground and I saw how tall he was, and how broad his shoulders were. He let out a little giggle and ran off in the same direction cherry had gone in.

A/N: HERES THE NEXT CHAPTER OF HEARTS ON FIRE WOOP WOOP. Can you guess who cherry's guy is? It's pretty obvious. I'm probably going to write the third chapter straight after this one because I've got nothing else to do, so you'll get to see the detention scene YAY
