You just got out of the car and grabbed your bags out of it. The bags were heavy but you sure could handle it. When you got inside, nobody was there.
Weird, you thought. You expected your roommate to be there, since school starts the next day.
You looked for your bedroom and started unpacking. While you did so, you heard a knock on the door, followed by the sound of the door slowly creaking open.
"Uhh, hey." A low voice of a guy greeted me. I turned around to see who it was.
"Hey." you said, "You must be my new roommate?"
"Yeah *hiccup* I-I'm Jack."
This guy is drunk already? One day before school? Odd.
"Eh... I'm y/n." you said a bit uncomfortable.
There was a really awkward silence, sometimes interrupted by Jack, hiccuping or burping. Ew.
"So uhh... already unpacked your stuff?" I said quickly, not looking at him.
"Nah, too busy right now."
"Huh. Alright." I started putting my clothes in my closet, but i felt really awkward since the silence came back...
"Why is he so quite right now?" you thought.
When you turned around, you found out why. He was gone already.
After you unpacked everything you went outside to explore the place a bit. While you were driving to your new dorm, you saw a forest that looked like a really good place to sketch and draw stuff.
While you were on your way you got lost in your thoughts and didn't see someone in front of you. You bumped right into him.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!" you quickly said. You looked up to see a tall guy, pretty brown hair, cute eyes with glasses... He was really good looking. Your thoughts made you blush lightly.
"It's okay." the guy said, smiling softly. You could see he was a bit shy.
"Uh, my name is y/n." you said.
"Stanford." he said back, rubbing his arm.
It got silent for a second. But this silence wasn't as awkward as the silence with Jack.
"So, where were you heading?" Stanford asked to make the silence go away.
"I wanted to go to the forest, it looked like a nice place." you said lightly smiling.
"Ah, indeed. If you want to sit there, go to the lake, it's very peaceful there. I go there a lot to clear my mind." He said.
"Thanks! I'll go take a look there." You said nodding your head.
"I have to go now, I guess I'll see you around?" Ford said.
"Yeah, see you around." you said waving at him as you walked off.
As you walked away, you forgot something.
"Wait!" you quickly walked back to Stanford. "How can we keep in touch? I'd like to meet again sometime."
"Oh.. uh" you saw he got shy again. "M-maybe I could give you my number? O-or not, it's what you'd like." He didn't make eye contact.
Gosh, he is so cute when he's shy
"Sure!" you said. "Here." You handed him your phone.
"Uh, I texted myself so I have your number too." He said, still not making eye contact.
"Thank you! See you later!" you smiled at him before walking away for the second time.
You didn't notice, but as you walked away Ford kept looking at you for a while, before walking away too. He blushed softly.
When you got to the lake and sat down at a little bench, you took a deep breath.
Stanford was right, you thought. It's really peaceful here.
After a while you walked back to your dorm, grabbed your keys and unlocked the door. But it wasn't much of a warm welcome. It smelled like alcohol. You saw Jack sitting on the little couch, watching a football game. He was aggressively shouting at the tv.
"Yeesh, can you keep it down?" you said frowning.
He just looked at you, really mad, and looked back at the tv just to continue shouting. You rolled your eyes and tried to ignore it. But when you were in your room, trying to prepare the last things for school, he started shouting harder, and harder, and harder. You've had enough.
You swung the door open, you were pissed off.
"Can you please shut your mouth? Not the whole freaking neighbourhood has to hear you!" you yelled at him.
He turned around and started screaming back. "DON'T YOU TELL ME WHAT TO DO! WE FUCKING LOST, WE LOST!" He clenched his fist and you stepped backwards, scared.
He kept saying it over again 'we lost, we lost'. First, he was whispering it, but he kept talking louder and louder. And you were just standing there, not knowing what to do. Until at one point, he started screaming again.
"WE FUCKING LOST THIS STUPID GAME!" he looked around and saw a vase with flowers standing on the little table that was standing in front of the couch. He grabbed it, and threw it right at you. He missed, luckily. But you were so shocked. You got tears in your eyes and ran back in your room. You tried to figure it out.
Why was he so angry? It's just a game, nothing more. Why did he throw that vase at me? What did I do? Why was he screaming? And then, it hit you. Of course, you thought. He drinks way to much alcohol. I'll figure something out to stop that. Maybe if it stops, he will stop being aggressive. I have no use in an aggressive roommate.
You didn't leave your room until you were sure he was gone. After that you went to sleep, trying to process everything that happened today, and you were slightly nervous for the first day of school.
