Haven sat up, swinging her legs over the side of the large queen sized bed, extending her arms above her bed-head as a satisfying yawn escaped her lips, curling her toes, she fell back onto the matress again. Staring up at the ceiling, she sighed; knowing that if she didn't get up now, she'd just roll back up in her comforter and sleep the day away. And, as appealing as that sounded, she had things to do today. Sadly, school being amongst those things.

Rolling over, Haven gave her phone a good, hard stare. 5:14 it read. Taking a deep breath, she clumsily made her way through the dark room and towards her closet, feeling around until her hands met the thick stretchy fabric. Parting the rest of her wardrobe, she gripped the hanger and headed towards her bathroom, a small smile making its way onto her lips.

Freshly changed, the fire-engine-redhead slipped her way out of the bathroom, her breath smelling of the mint coloured (and scented) tooth paste she often gagged on.

Quietly, Haven made her way down the large spiral staircase, her Nike's making small squeaks and squeals against the lenolium as she stepped into the kitchen. Tiptoeing her way over to the pantry, she grabbed a chocolate protein bar and a bottled water, stuffing them into the small messenger bag. She plugged her headphones into her ears and made her way through the living room, stepping into the cold that was Vermont in the wee hours of morning. Pausing, Haven inhaled deeply, filling her lungs with the fresh, humid air. It smelled of pine needles and freshly cut grass; a scent that comforted her and soothed the small bit of anxiety that seemed to permanently reside in the pit of her gut.

Straightening her back, Haven took off at a sprint at first, and slowly began jogging once she had made her way out of the long driveway. She was barley 20 metres from her porch, but, the cold mixed with her lack of physical activity proved to be hell on her seemingly microscopic lungs.
