you told me to find you in the clouds. i was roughly four years old when you whispered that, before they covered your wrinkled face under a pink hospital blanket. they took you away and i never saw you again.
i rode an airplane. i didn't see you.
maybe you were too small, maybe you swam in the ocean, or maybe you camped along the hills. i had a panic attack, so flight attendants tried to calm me down. but the sight of freshly puffed clouds gliding along air did nothing to relax my nerves.
