It was almost sundown, when we finally made it to King Steve’s throne room.  We all bowed before him. “Ah, Keegan. I see you have returned with the elves and dwarves. And it looks like the generator is done,” the King exclaimed.

“Well, we still need to put the catalyst in,” an elf said. “And ain’t we gonna call it somfen purdy?  Like the Diamond Generator?” a dwarf asked. “There will be a name decided for the generator later. First I want you to all come join me for dinner,” King Steve said.

“We will gladly accept you’re gracious offer,” the elves said. “Aw yeah! Chow time!” The dwarves shouted, while letting out whoops of joy.

So, we all went inside King Steve’s royal dining room. I had only been in there once or twice since helping to build it. The dining room table was grand and long, with somewhere around 12 chairs. We all took a seat, King Steve picking the middle chair, towards the back. The Table was set with all the dishes covered with metal lids.

“Toast to the discovery of this new material! And also toast to the generator, which I decided to call the Nexus,” King Steve said. “Here! Here!” a dwarf said. Then we all raised our glasses for the toast. Then we took the lids off of our dishes, revealing some fresh cooked chicken and mushroom stew. We all ate happily. It was one of the best days I’ve had since the negotiations.

That night I was so tired that if there wasn’t the clatter of foot steps from passersby I probably would have passed out on the stone walkway.  Finally I made it to my house. I came in and collapsed on my bed, and fell right to sleep.
