Gunshots were heard nearby as Gerard frantically searched for Mikey, spotting a few gruesome corpses here and there but he simply could not find him anywhere. He looked to his hands, noticing blisters for the first time and then to his leg. Pain struck him violently as he encouraged himself to move his wounded shin, quickly scanning faces of soldiers passing by. His eyes began to burn as tears formed in them, he wanted to make sure his brother was alive.

Gerard stood, ignoring the pain as he trudged through dead bodies and random objects wishing to find a sign of Mikey anywhere, suddenly catching a glimpse of a familiar face. Gerard grunted in disappointment when he realized it was Frank. At least someone's alive. Frank ran over quickly, pulling Gerard into a safer area.

"Are you trying to get yourself killed?!" He screamed, barely heard over guns and bombs. Gerard only glared in response, slightly annoyed that Frank destroyed a chance to see his brother. Frank huffed and tied a cloth to his bullet injury, making Gerard inaudibly hiss at the sting. "Don't die! Or at least don't die being stupid!" Frank screeched as Gerard got up to search for Mikey, a pain easing up his leg.

Gerard finally found him racing up to his little brother, but noticing that something was wrong. He slowed as he reached Mikey, shaking violently and letting out muffled sounds of pain. Gerard peered at his brother's face and gripped his dead body close to him, burying his face in the blood stained fabric. Mikey's face was lifeless, although his eyes were opened wide.

A sudden feeling of guilt washed over Gerard as he realized that he had broken his promise. He'd promised to keep him safe, to keep him alive, but he had failed miserably. He felt the need to be punished for his actions, finally picking death. Anything would feel better than the pain that tugged at his heart, even being shot. He quickly pressed his lips to his brother's cold hand and rose, silent tears sliding down his pale cheeks. He was consumed by bullets and fell dead, fading away, just like his brother.
