Ray rushed to the body of his friend, falling to his knees and caressing Frank's face. "No, Frank I know that y-you..." a stream of tears started sliding fast down his cheeks, falling on Frank's face. "I know you miss him just please, please don't do this, Frank can you hear me?" Frank whimpered, gripping the collar of Ray's uniform. "Take my ring-" he choked up a small amount of blood. "Make sure my f-family knows about the engagement...tell them I love Gerard, tell them I tried." Ray shook his head, denying the existence of the words Frank pleaded him to pass on.

Frank turned pale, almost gray using the last of his strength to close his eyes and press a crumpled note into Ray's hand. Ray unfolded the note, silently reading it.

Ray, if you're reading this, 

realize that I planned this, my death is suicide. Yes, it doesn't solve my problems but Gerard isn't here to say he loves me or to kiss me or say it's okay while I shudder at our amputated friends, to say, "Frankie, I love you to my grave." I thought he would live, I really did, but Mikey. Mikey was supposed to live too, we were all supposed to live. I watched Bob die yesterday too, could you imagine watching someone blow up into pieces?

Ray, you should live, you have a wife, a future. Protect yourself, send letters to her, keep your head up buddy, we loved you so much. Don't forget us.

Ray ran back to shelter, his face stinging with the sandy wind. He began composing a letter, the soft lines of his writing comforting him as much as it could. "Thank you, Frank." He whispered, smiling through tears,
