"An angel? Me? You can't be serious." I huffed in disbelief.
"I know it all seems a little crazy right now, but once you see your real parents, it will all feel normal." He said.
"How would you know? From what I caught, you weren't an angel, you wouldn't know. Now put me down! You have been carrying me for 15 minutes."
"I was only carrying you because you couldn't walk on your own, but if you feel stronger now, i'll put you down." He said calmly.
He slowly put me down, and at first, my legs collapsed, but he caught me and lifted me back up. My legs felt a little stronger, but I was still dizzy. I wobbled a bit as we walked on, but got stronger the farther we went.
"So where are we going?" I asked.
"I told you, to take you to your family." He said.
"But I cant just leave! I have a family here, and friends. I can't just leave all of them behind, what about my mom and dad? What about my sister?" I cried.
"They aren't your real family Luna, they just had you while your real parents worried sick and went to every extent to find you!" He huffed back.
"No, they are my family! They took me in when they found me on their doorstep! They didn't abandon me, they saved me, and treated me as their own!" I yelled. "If my so called real family was so worried, then why aren't they here to get me themselves?"
"That's something I can't answer for you, but you will come with me. You will either go willingly, or I will force you, but I prefer the easy way, so just come along now." He said.
I stopped right there and didn't move. If he was going to take me, he would have to do it the hard way. No way was I going with some delusional psychopath. I would fight if I had to, but I couldn't just leave my family here and have them wondering what happened to me.
"Luna please, you are being childish, let's not make this harder than it has to be." He said calmly.
"I'm not going with you. I'm 17 years old, I can make my own decision on who to live with. I choose here, so if you are going to take me, you'll have to do it with force." I said back.
"I'm getting entirely sick of knocking you out Luna. I'm going to give you a concussion at this rate, but, if you insist!" He yelled.
One second he was 10 feet away from me, and the next, be was in front of me.
"Goodnight." He said with a wink.
His hand came to my head and the next thing I know, I'm in a strange dream.
It's bright, so bright my eyes burn. I can see the glow of someone sitting across from me. It's a woman, and she is sobbing. I want to ask her what's wrong, and if there is anything I can do to help, but I can't move, I can't speak.
I'm filled with an overwhelming sense of terror. What's happening to me? Why can't I move?
I look down at my feet to see if something is holding me down. That's strange, nothings there. Suddenly, I hear footsteps approaching me. I looked up to be greeted by burning red eyes and solid black wings in my face. This man, no, this creature is burning with hunger, I don't know what it is.
Unable to scream or move, I stared in terror as it moved closer to me. It's feet were human, but his body broken and decaying. His eyes showed no mercy, only burning red hunger.
"Luna! Luna wake up! You're burning up. Oh God, Luna you have to open your eyes!" Caleb shouted.
I opened my eyes laying on cement with Caleb's worried eyes piercing down at me.
"Luna! Oh thank God you are awake! I thought you were going to die." He said worriedly.
I sat up, but everything immediately started to spin.
"Hey don't try to sit up, you are really sick. We need to get you to Komoza and Cora. They can heal you." He said.
Unable to talk because of the unbearable nauseous feeling, I just rolled my eyes and nodded.
One thing I was sure of, is that he needed me alive, so I knew he would get me help, even if he was delusional.
"I'm going to have to carry you again. We need to get you help, and fast." He said.
I nodded in return. He picked me up carefully and began to walk. I was unbelievably dizzy and nauseous.
Fading in and out of consciousness, I could hear Caleb singing a soft toon in his deep silky voice. It was oddly comforting to have him with me.
"Hey beautiful, we're almost there, only about 2 more miles. Just hang in there." He said.
I managed to choke out an okay, and he smiled in return.
