The Doctor

Nathan's head jerks left and right, the recurring nightmare has started once more. The same events replay. 10 year old Nathan's playing hopscotch with another boy, Marcus Lionel. They played and they played, and then they stopped, right in front of Mr. Avery's property. A bitter man with a pack of dogs that are evil in their own little way. Naturally the boys were curios so they decided to jump over the fence that divided Mr. Avery's property from the counties. An American bulldog named Rex, who was the alpha of all dogs was lurking and guarding the house. He smelled the boys sweaty T-shirts and could hear their racing hearts. About six more dogs caught the smell, none on chains, all vicious and colossal. Rex was the first to attack, he lunged showing his massive teeth that would shred human skin and muscle to the bone. He went after Nathan and the other six went after Marcus...

Nathan awoke with heavy breaths, his eyes dilated, his heart beating faster than a drum. That nightmare, that memory has not haunted him for about 10 years. Shivers run up and down his body. He rises up and as soon as he does a strike of pain forces him back down. "What the hell?" He says holding his head. He tries again, no pain A little sting but nothing like the previous. His vision is blurry and spotted. The room is easily recognizable, it's a room for surgery and he was on the table meant for surgery. He gets to his feet, he grunts while rubbing his head. He falls to his knees holding his head in his hand, another strike of pain hit. This one was twice as hard. "Dr. Parker?" No answer. He sighs "Dr. Bates? Nurse?! I need help!" Within a matter of seconds his headache is gone his vision is cleared. He could finally see the room clearly. It had a couple cabinets in the corner and a twin table next to Nathan's. However this table has a body like figure covered by a white cloth. Nathan was never a fan of dealing with patients after they had passed. However Nathan's natural curiosity was peaked. He's been on the desk so long. He inched to the side of the table with the body, and removed the cloth enough to see the face. Yet, there was no face, there was no body, there was nothing but a fake skeleton with the note in its mouth. Nathan's curiosity and confusion got the best of him, he slipped away the note from the Skelton's boney teeth. The note read all of Nathan's personal information even things no one knew.

The note slipped out of Nathan's hand he was in awe. What was happening? "Dr. Bates I swear to god if this is your idea of a joke..." there was a noise that cut him off. It sounded like ... barking. It was coming from the direction of the door, he inches his way to the door until he heard scratching, barking, whining, and then finally he heard a growl the growl he hadn't heard in 10 years. His first thought "Rex". It can't be Rex was six when he attacked Nathan it's been 10 years he has to be dead, it makes no sense. Something jumped outside the door Nathan could see through the window pane on the door. His breath quickened. It truly did sound like Rex. It was not possible. Then it finally happened. The scratching became louder it was like they were trying to break the door down. No success, but they weren't stopping it sounded like a pack growling and scratching to get inside. Nathan came to his senses. He ran to the cabinets and looked inside if they truly were telling truth, and what he would've found it in a whole lot better. It was just jeans and boots and a white shirt with a backpack and another note. And this one just read "Laurel". He checked the other cabinets and didn't find anything else. The room fell silent, the noise had stopped. Nathan began to worry he walked towards the door to inspect where the noise had gone. He had to look through the window, there was nothing not a sight or whiff that dogs were ever there. Then in an instant, The door caved in toppled on top of Nathan. Forcing to drop the backpack to his side. He tried to move the heavy door, when the dogs came running in. When the footsteps stopped, he looked up. No dogs, nothing it was just a room. He got the door off. He scanned the room. He didn't want to stay long so he just grabbed the backpack and ran down the hall until he made it to an exit.

The sun blinded him, he kept walking. This wasn't Phoenix anymore he did t recognize any buildings the were all so close, and trashed. Cable wires broken down onto buildings. Windows shattered beyond repair. Streets were broken, paving had been long over due. Cars missing wheels or an engine. Nathan kept walking, down the street avoiding cable lines in the ground. He started hearing the barking again. And started running. He ran until he found a building he did recognize. A Motel 7, he ran into the building everything inside was broken and some pieces were missing, he saw a bathroom sign and darted for it. he slammed the door behind him. He tried to get the sinks water to flow, no water. He takes deep breaths until he feels he is calm, he rummages though the backpack.grabs the clothes and changes quickly. He reads the note over and over trying to find out anything he couldn't see before. But one line echoed in his head "kill your fears before they kill you". He shakes his head and through the note flying across the room. He goes to the mirror to check himself for bruises. It was a heavy door. Nothing was wrong, his brown hair was still brown, his blue eyes were still blue. He had a small cut on his chiseled chin. No bruises on his body. He tried for waters again. This time it actually flowed. He grabbed handfuls and splashed his face. Wipes off the dripping water with his arm . He begins to think again "find five people, they will be the only one not trying to kill you". He thought to himself "find them and leave. Simple enough" he packed up the backpack and gave himself another water splash to the face before exiting the bathroom. He closes the door and turns to find a girl holding a gun, pointing at him. He drops his backpack and puts his hands up. "Who are you?!" She yells. "I'm Nathan" he says trying to not show that he is scared. She lowers her gun "I'm Thea, and your one of the people I need to find". The girl whips back her light brown hair to show her features, full lips with hazel eyes. She has fair skin, and wears jeans with a white shirt but, she overlaps the shirt a dark purple leather jacket that buttons at the middle, and where's black boots same as him. "Is the white shirts and jeans our uniform?" He asks, lowering his hands. "Afraid so, Nathan" she says searching the motel lobby. "Call me Nate" he says.
