Until 8:00 I lied in my bed while I wrapped my arms around my legs. Depressed. Hopeless. What have I done to deserve this. Is this karma for bailing on the Single Ladies Club. Oh wait, there is no Single Ladies Club anymore. For once in my lifetime, my phone is no where near close to me. Thinking of Alex makes me want to clench my fists.
My parents didn't bother to speak to me. They probably just didn't want to say the wrong thing. Good thing Logan cleaned the place up before we could arrive. They would've ground me and him for life. All of a sudden, I heard someone knocking on my door, even though it was already open.
"You okay, sweetheart?" It was Dad.
No answer. I looked at the window while it's pouring rain outside.
"Well if you're hungry, there's leftover spaghetti in the refrigerator."
Still no answer. Not a "thank you" or anything. The door bell rang. Who could that be? Well I don't care who it is because I have plenty more things to worry about.
"Honey, it's for you." Who would want to see me now?
"Who is it?" I asked, turning my body around.
"It's Riley." My only best friend. I thought her and the girls were done with me. After a million years, I got up from my bed and walked to the door. Her hair was dripping wet. Her shoulders are shrugged as if she was cold which looks like she is. I closed the door behind me.
"Hey Riley. What's up?"
"I've should've told you earlier." No hello? No hug?
"What?"
"If I had told you earlier then this wouldn't have happened." Her tears were running down her cheeks while the rain drips on every inch of her body.
"Told me what?" I asked.
"The letters were from me." I looked at her in shock as my eyes start to widen.
"What?"
"I'm sorry, I should go." She turned around and started to run. "Riley, wait!" I ran down the steps and started to go after her but I gave up. So it was Riley the whole time. She was my secret admirer. Is it normal for your best friend to fall in love with you? I closed the door and walked to my room. I found my mom sitting on my bed in the dark. I flicked the light switch up. "Mom?"
She patted a spot next to her. "Come sit down." I sat down beside her. My mom finally wants to say something after a million years.
"Sweetie, I'm so sorry about what happened at school today. The principal is going to take care of it."
"You're not mad at me for having sex?" I actually thought she was going to ground me for life.
"No," she answered. "You're 17 years old and you should have some experiences with other people. I'm not those moms who doesn't want their child to have sex before college." I didn't bother to look at her in confusion.
"Thanks Mom." I spread my arms out and pull her into them. I hugged her so tight. "I love you."
"I love you too, sweetheart." She planted a kiss on my forehead and started to leave the room. "Wait, Mom." She turned around to look at me.
"Can I talk to you about something?"
"Sure." She sat down on the same spot which was dented. She looked at me waiting for me to say a word.
"Riley's in love with me and... I don't know what I should do about it."
"Well do you like her back?" she asked. That's the one question I can't answer myself. "Do I like her back."
"I don't know, I love her because she's my best friend. She's the most amazing person in the world to me."
"Any thoughts of being gay or bisexual?" Why the fuck did I decide to have this conversation with her?
"No," I shook my head.
"Well that will all come in time when you're ready to figure yourself out. If you really like Riley then you should give her a chance."
"Thanks Mom." I hugged her again.
"You're welcome, sweetie." I broke the hug and she walked out walked out of the door. I'm glad she isn't one of those homophobic parents who disapproves of their child having the same sex attraction. Mom is so helpful. It would've been worse if my dad was here. Am I in love with Riley or not?
