"Admit! It! Shwarma is better than Starbucks" Tony said when he had finished paying for the food. "First of all, Anthony, you want me to compare food to a drink. Second, it's decent. Third, I still prefer Starbucks" I say as we walk to the doors. The others are standing out. I follow their gaze to Thor's hammer. "Well..." I start. "... Fuck" Tony finished my thought. "Langues" cap says silently.
~~~~~ One Week Later ~~~~~
"It won't work! Cant, you understand it" I shout annoyed at Tony. "Come on, just one more time," Tony tried to convince me. "No, Anthony, I've tried more than a hundred times. Now I'm only tired and that won't help" I complained. "And it should have worked by now..." I say before leaving the room. I take a deep breath. Then I start walking, not sure where. But you can't get that far on the Helicarrier. I managed to decide that I'll walk toward the bridge. Multiple thoughts are running in my head, but I keep walking. The last week had been pretty boring,
Suddenly, I hear a voice say "Hey! Lisa!" from behind me. I turn around, and then I put on a fake smile when I see who it was. "Hi Thor," I say. "Lady Stark, how are you doing?" with a cute smile. "Fine, I guess. And you?" I say. "I was wondering if we could go and get some of the small buckets of stars that you talk so much about?" Thor suggested. "Starbucks? Well, a break would be nice. Sure, let's go Goldilocks" I say.
~~~~~~~~~~
"What's happening? Where arw the others?" I ask Fury as Thor and I enter the bridge. "Aliens are attacking Miami, the others are already there trying to stop them" Fury explains shortly. Then he turns to Thor and says, "you should join them". Thor nods and leaves, but not before handing me his almost empty cup. Fury turns back to the monitors. I stand next to Fuy, so I'm able to see what he's looking at. Footage of most of the Avengers fighting aliens in Miami. "Any luck lately?" Fury asks without looking away from the screen. "No" I answer, knowing what he meant. I felt useless standing there. And still, here I was...
I push my thoughts away and look at the footage. There is something odd... "Where's Loki?" I ask. "What?" Fury looks at me. "Where is Loki? The Chitauri are there and fighting, but Loki is nowhere to be seen. What if there's a different purpose to the attack? What if this is just a setup for something?" I explain my theory. And from the look on Fury's face, I might be onto something. "I'm going to the lab," I said before I walked away.
I noticed that the corridors were strangely quiet, but I brushed it off. Big mistake...
~~~~~ Tony's POV ~~~~~
"What the hell is going on?" I asked as my feet meet the ground, "This doesn't make sense." The Chitauri had suddenly retreated. "It was a distraction," Cap said, "Anyone else noticed that Loki didn't actually show up here?". "I was hoping it was just me not seeing him," I replied. "Well, what did he need a distraction for?" Thor asked. "No idea," Natasha added, "It's not like he needs anything he doesn't have". "Let's get back to the Helicarrier, we can figure it out from there. There's not much we can do here" I said before taking off into the sky.
About five minutes later, I arrived at the bridge. The first thing I heard was Thor's shouting. "I cannot figure out what it is he wants," Thor yelled. "Calm down, getting angry isn't going to help anyone right now," Hawkeye tried to calm Thor down a bit, which worked. My eyes scanned the room, looking for only one person. But she wasn't here. "Where's Sandra?" I asked. "She went to the lab" Fury replied. "I'm going to go get her," I said before leaving. I feel my legs move faster and faster. Why do I always have to assume the worst?
My mouth goes dry when I see the lab. It was trashed. It looked like if a fight had happened, one of the walls was even bulked. From the look of it, it couldn't happen more than ten minutes ago. Without a second thought, I run back to the bridge. I only slowed down when I arrived. "She's not there but the lab is trashed. Turn on the security footages from about ten minutes ago" I say to Fury and walk next to him. Surprisingly, he did as I said.
"There," I say quietly as see the door opened on the footages, and in walked Sandra. In the same second, Loki had appeared out of nowhere. As the door closed behind Sandra, Loki put a hand around her neck, you could clearly see that Sandra was struggling to breathe. Then he whispered something. Sandra took the chance and kicked him, hard enough for him to let go of her. She stood in front of Loki for a second before she attacked him, and they fought. The fight continued for another two solid minutes before Loki pushed her into a wall, making her hurt her head and faint. Then Loki looked at the camera, a devilish smile on his face before the screen turned black. I felt the anger boil in me.
Silence...
"So let me get this straight, this is supposed to be one of the safest places on the planet and yet you let my sister get kidnapped by a psycho wannabe God? Seriously?" I yelled, "And I now have no idea where she is or what the hell he wants with her". "Stark I didn't let it happen, I didn't-" Fury tried to defend himself, but I cut him off, "It's your fucking plane, you let it happen". "This is exactly what he wanted, he's been watching us," Natasha exclaimed, "Tony, he's got you right where he wants you, and he clearly knew this would get to us". I know that Natasha and Sandra were good friends, probably Natasha's closest female friend. "She's right," Barton added, "There's no way he just did this randomly, he knew what he was doing".
Suddenly, a picture popped onto a few of the screens. "Hello, Avengers," Loki said.
"Give her back to us before I make you, Loki," I demanded. "You just made this way more personal than it needs to be, reindeer games".
"That insult is beginning to get old Stark, don't you think? And, besides, I wouldn't test me, your sister's life is in my hands," Loki grinned.
"What do you want, brother?" Thor asked. "I'm due for a little payback don't you think?" Loki answered.
"Let me see her," Steve demanded. "Captain's got himself a little crush now, doesn't he? That was fast." Loki laughed. I choose to ignore what I just heard.
"We need proof she's safe, otherwise you don't get anything," Fury joined the conversation.
"Oh, she's safe. For now" Loki said before the camera quickly turned to his left side, showing Elizabeth. She was tied to a chair with a blindfold on, and unconscious.
"Loki, what do you want?" I hissed. "I want more iridium. You have three days and believe me, the longer you take the worse it gets for your sister here. Goodbye," Loki said before the picture faded away.
