Mason
I tapped my fingers on my lap as we made our way in to the kingdom. Today was the day I would meet with Tony, and it was clear I was nervous. Why I was nervous you ask? Can't really say why. I had only met Tony once, and that resulted in me waking up to my beautiful mate. Lisa. Her name fits her so well. Her goofy and shy personality was just a bonus.

She looked at me and saw what I was doing. Keeping her eyes on the road, she grabbed my hand and ran her thumb over my knuckles. It calmed me down almost completely. But something in my head was telling me that this meeting was going to go to shit.

Arriving in front of the castle, we got out of the car and my our way in. Immediately we were stopped by two men wearing all black. "State your name and business." One said. "I'm Lisa. This is my mate Mason. We have scheduled a meeting with King Tony." Lisa said. They looked at us for a second before nodding to one another.

"He says that he trusts you know your way to the office." The other guard smirked. Lisa shot them a glare before leading me to the very top of the castle. Going down the long hallway, my heart was beating very fast now. "C'mon Mason. You got this." I whispered to myself. Two double doors came into view, a torch on either side of them. "Ready?" Lisa asked.

For some reason I was really nervous and I don't know why. It's only a meeting. I felt a hand grip mine and looked up. Lisa was smiling warmly at me. "I'm right here, okay? Everything's going to be okay." She reassured me. I sighed and nodded. She knocked loudly on the door and a man dressed in all black opened the door and stepped to the side.

We entered and I looked around. A black table sat in the middle of the room, six chairs surrounding it. There at the end of the table sat Tony...Maria on his lap. "King." I nodded slightly at him. He did the same. I looked at Maria, or at least what's left. "Maria." I looked at her. "Mason." She looked surprise.

"Have a seat." Tony spoke. I did as I was told and placed Lisa in my lap. "What is that you want?" He asked. I took a deep breath and looked at Maria. "To see her...one last time." I said with all honesty. "You've got to be kidding." Tony said. "Believe me, I thought it was pretty stupid myself. But look at it from my point of view. This was my first and only love. She made me laugh, smile, picked me up every time I was down. She was everything to me. Now she belongs to you. Now I understand that you're a king and you have your rules and your boundaries but please, can I say goodbye." I pleaded me.

"Why should I trust you?" He asked, eyeing me darkly. "Are you kidding me? She's your mate. She's sitting on your lap as we speak. Do you really think she'll just leave you for me just like that?" I asked in disbelief. He stared at me some more before sighing. "If you try anything, I'll kill you where you stand." He said coldly. I nodded.

"You have exactly ten minutes." He said before standing up and leaving the room. "I don't like her." Lisa whispered in my ear. "It's going to be okay. I promise." I whispered back and kissed her. She nodded and left. Now it was only me and Maria. An awkward silence filled the room as none of us spoke. So I took the time to look at how much she's changed.

Her once golden brown hair was now all black, her grey eyes shined brighter than before, her body which once lacked curves now has them in all the right places, her once brown skin was now light brown. All around she's changed. The thing is I don't know if it was for the better or for the worst.

The silence broke as her light voice spoke. "Hey." She said. "Hey. How've you been?" I asked her. "Good. Really good. You?" She asked. "Splendid actually." I responded. "That's good." She said. "Yeah." I said. Not another word was spoken after that. I scratched the back of my head, not knowing what to say.

"Who's was that girl you were with?" Maria asked. "That's my mate. Her name's Lisa." I said. "She's beautiful." She complimented. "She is, isn't she?" I smiled. Maria smiled as well. "Listen, I just wanted to say that..." I trailed off. "What is it?" Maria asked. I sighed. Here we go.

"These last 3 years have been absolutely amazing. From the moment I met you until now, I have been nonstop happy. I would always go around bragging about how much of an awesome girlfriend I have. You've turned me from a heartless, cold male into a more loving and caring man. And even though we both have mates, just know that there will always be a special place in my heart for you." I smiled sadly at her.

By now she was smiling and crying. She walked over to me hugged me. "Same for me." She said. I pulled back and kissed her forehead. Just then the door opened and in came Lisa and Tony. "Ten minutes up." Tony spoke. "Your imaginary watch is fast." I said letting go of Maria. "I know right. Shame. Leave." He said, pointing at the door.

I sighed and looked at Maria one last time. Her face held pain and regret. Both were easily visible. "Take care." I told her and left with Lisa. We made our way out of the castle and back to her car. I got in and sighed. "So She was your girlfriend or something?" Lisa asked. "Was." I said staring out of the window.

"I'm sorry." She said. "No. It's fine." I looked at her and smiled. She smiled back and started the car. She pulled out of the driveway and started driving back to my house. While driving, only one thing was on my mind; Maria.
