Last Breath

chapter 4

I open my eyes to a startling knock at the door, bringing me up to my feet and walking to the door to answer it. About half way to the door, the door swings open for i see rose panting as if she where running a marathon. "Rose whats wrong, your panting like a dog."

" We are being attacked by other kinds of creatures after you." She said weary and tired as she puts a hand down on a table to get her breath.

"What kind of creatures? Is everyone alright right now? Where are they if they are safe?" I said with worry as i walked p to Rose to help her up. She looked up at me and straightened her shirt ready to answer my questions.

"Everyone is fine and they are taking shelter in the base trunk. Right now at the moment we do not know what they are but we better get moving" grabbing my hand she pulls me out of my room and towards the base trunk. Getting the memo i start to run to base tree as Rose lets go of my arm letting me have running room. We get three quarters of the way and the bridge in front of me started to break and fall apart. Rose jumps making it to the other side and continues to run, but me on the other hand suck at jumping and miss the other side falling to my death not having any of my weapons. I crunch up into a ball not wanting to feel that i was falling to the ground ready for my death. Next thing i know i feel two arms catching me and flying through the air and landing on the ground as someone puts me down to my feet. i uncover my eyes washed away by a beautiful man about my age.

"You alright miss" holding a hand out in front of him to shake my hand. Not really concerned about who he was but what he looked like i reach my hand out to shake his. "I'm Jake." All I really could do was stand and stare at his pure skin. What really got me was his black wings. He had black long frilly hair that lined up curvy with his icy blue eyes. He also had piercing that was located on his left eye brow, and his smile is warming but sly.

"Um ah my name is Amber" Moving a strain of long hair out of the way of my face showing that i was blushing. "Thank you for saving me back there."

"It's no problem, Tengue do what Tengues do best at." Smiling enough that i could run up and hug him.

"S-so your a Tengue, and what are they?"

"That's a very good question you have there miss Amber. A Tengue is a demon that is part crow and fights to the death if necessary when it come to protecting they o so dearly love. I'm not that kind but i will if needed. Tengues look for a woman that can see little demons unlike normal humans. If that demon drinks her blood he will have a long life, if he eats her flesh he will live forever until killed, and if married that demon will bring prosper to there clan." He said taking a break as if something has changed there life style " Something has come that there is no woman that can see the little demons but she is the last of her kind."

"About that..." unable to finish my sentence other Tengues started to come and i hid in the bushes as they landed by Jake. They started to scratch and bite Jake with there sharp teeth and talons. Jake did nothing to struggle as he fell to the ground bleeding out, the other Tengues flew away leaving Jake on the ground. I gasped and ran out of the bushes to Jake "You OK? Why didn't you do anything?"

"Me? i couldn't do anything, i did something bad for me to get band from my clan." as he coughed and spit up blood.

"well its a bit harsh for them to just hurt you and leave you hear to die, don't you think?"

"yes well..." He passed out after that. I looked around seeing if Max Rose or Michael came out to help me. A few minutes later i see Rose coming with the others as they rose there hand waving them at me until they saw the Tengue.

"What is he doing here?" Rose said angrily not wanting a Tengue to take me with him

"Don't worry Rose he saved me his name is Jake, he was banded from his clan." I said.
